katie porter's got under $7 million, and barbara lee has just a few thousand. if money is and indicator, you have to view schiff as the favorite. but it's a long time between now and the primary next year. and you never know what might happen, whether somebody fumbles, whether somebody we never expected gets in. so we have a lot to think about and watch between now and let's say a year or so from now. >> how important is it for feinstein to back someone? how important is that in this race? because oftentimes people look for that. who will she back? >> well, that's a good question. she may well back somebody. and it's hard to know. although she and schiff, again, are compatible, particularly philosophical. they're both moderate democrats. so, to the extent she decides to back somebody, i wouldn't be surprised if she backs schiff, but you never know about these things. then of course we never know the extent to which endorsements are that powerful anyway. we've got this interesting tug and pull in the democratic party, the progressives, if you will, the moderates
