katrina, good to see you.'s start with -- a lot going on here in the backgroundburgs let's start with the social media, trump dominated in the social media, just about doubling the next closest candidate conversation on social media, ted cruz, what do you make of that? >> well, great to be here and great to see you again, and i think that it is quite interesting, right? mr. trump wasn't at the debate, yet he won the majority of the online polls and dominated in social media. the event we held last night for veterans was fascinating, emotional. many veterans grateful and thankful and mr. trump made the right decision and it worked out really well. lou: i thought you were going to say that trump has collapsed and is completely rethought his strategy and approach and his decision. i thought you were going to say that he eschews hubris and will never more challenge fox news. but the reality is, what he forecasts is not what occurred. in fact, was a successful evening by any standard, immensely successful evening.

katrina, these new numbers out tell a very interesting tale.rump is still the front-runner nationally but he is still -- and i guess i should say, he is running away with new hampshire. but in iowa, he is still trailing cruz in this very same poll. what is going on? iowa is first and we're getting close, katrina. >> well, we're getting very close, kate. this is sort of typical. we see candidates in iowa go up and they go down and i think we're going to see the same thing happen here. i've said before, i'm very confident that mr. trump is going to win iowa. i think most voters on the republican side and democratic side understand that there is something intrinsically wrong with the political system. whether you poll the system, the economy, donald trump wins those issues hands down. >> katrina still confident they will pull it off in iowa. david, looking at this poll and looking to the general, other interesting numbers in here for you guys. new polls showing that clinton is lagging behind all three of the top republicans in this race right now.

post-katrina we went to a different system of educating. before, we had a school board from a centralized system. the board did not function well. a result was kids were going to schools that were not teaching. the schools could not get their brains off of adult issues. they wanted people to think they should focus on, generally employer-employee relationships. it was a union, and if i could, before the end of this yea, 100% of our schools will be charter schools. i will give you the results. the graduation rates are going up, dropout rates going down, and the achievement gap between whites and blacks has closed and the over five years. the reasons those things are working is not necessarily because they are charters, but because there's some level of parental choice, accountability. the principal and teachers can run the school, and it seems to be producing a good result. what he is into is the suspension policy that existed in public schools and charter schools, and he is right about that. this is about justice. it is about how a kid gets

i want to bring in cnn political commentator donna brazile, top dnc official and katrina vandenhoevel. at the top of the program, we mentioned cnn's new polling showing bernie sanders gaining a bit of ground nationally. we should also point out there was a fox news poll in iowa showing hillary clinton leading sanders 48% to 42%. if she can pull off a win here, that's would be a big change in momentum for her, would it not? >> look at the poll cnn just released. it shows bernie sanders has essentially re-created the obama coalition. extraordinary support, 74% among 18 to 29-year-olds. very strong support among independents. and also what struck me was the democrats say they are happy, comfortable with both candidates. anderson, i think what bernie sanders needs to do tonight is speak forcefully about why he is a realist and a doer. his ideas are practical. they are in the mainstream of american political ideas, and he needs to say that the new realism is that we must dismantle a rigged, corrupted political economic system if we're going to have the transformational changes this country
