in fact kcbs radio says the coroner is on scene and they are calling this a hit-and-run. so we do have a reporter there. he is gathering details. we'll have live reports coming up in just a bit. we are following another crash on the bay bridge this morning. it is actually just past the toll plaza here. just beyond this. it's off to the right shoulder of the bridge. some backups, just the typical morning commute. but we may see additional backups there as well as people just have a visual distraction on the bridge. the drive time from the carquinez bridge to the maze is about 22 minutes if you head out there way. the golden gate bridge this morning, we have been watching some fog there. so give yourself a few extra minutes. no delays there. right now in the clear. 580 from the altamont pass to 680, we are looking at some of those typical slowdowns there. you can see about 27 miles per hour in some areas as people head out the door. south bay drive times, 101 from 680 to 237 we are seeing that starting to get a little orange there right now about 13 minutes, 280 from 101 to

joining us now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks.rning. >> reporter: good morning, frank and michelle. homebuilders are whistling a happier tune. they saw a big rebound in housing starts in february. the commerce department says starts were up over 5%. nice rebound after declines the prior two months but building permits were down over 3% so it might be tough to sustain that particular level of growth. also getting a report on consumer side inflation from the labor department. now, while overall prices were down by 2/10% in february from the prior month, if you strip out gas and food, and, of course, gas prices have been down a lot, the core rate was up and over the past 12 months, the core rate was up 2.3%. that's higher than the feds' target of 2% which is also key as the fed wraps up a two-day meeting today. most not expecting a rate hike but stronger inflation along with the stronger job growth that we have seen over the past few months could push the federal reserve close to a rate hike later this year. >>> oracle is topping ear

let's hear from you and "kcbs traffic." >> thank you. we are starting to see some slight delays now as you work your way southbound 101 out of the north bay. no accidents, we just spoke with chp. that's the good news. but some slower speeds especially through petaluma on that southbound side of 101. 38 miles per hour near highway 116. so again take it slow. we have a lot of slick surfaces out there in the north bay. highway 12 maybe a bit of a struggle this morning, as well. taking a look at the richmond/san rafael bridge, right now traffic is still very light as you work your way across the span over towards marin near the toll plaza. no delays right now. so far the golden gate bridge is a pretty decent ride. southbound 101 from 580 into san francisco only 14 minutes for your drive time. but again we'll keep an eye on that as the rain progresses through there. now taking a look at the by bridge, metering lights are on. you're backed up to the maze. delays coming off westbound 580. in fact, your approaches to the bay bridge a little slow
