keller. mr. keller: thank you, madam xhar. what i want to start with is i heard testimony about the viability of the pregnancy being difficult to determine because they're all based on a different diagnosis and different situation. i'll get to that later in my comments and i want to start out with knowing that and it was just mentioned that some babies have a 50/50 shot at survival and dr. schryer mentioned that. every life has opportunity and hope and sometimes doctors, despite their best efforts, do not calculate the appropriate outcome for their diagnosis. i've had a personal experience with this. when my son freddy was 3 years old, he had an injury resulting headled to a devastating injury. he had an accident. the doctors despite their best efforts thought fred was not going to live. he was put on life support and as we waited and prayed, the doctors' prognosis was that the mortality rate of children in his condition was not 50%. it was not 98%, but we were told it was 100%. he was not going to live. they even tried to con

i had a confidante who was -- who is david's very close friend, florence keller.he went through every major reveal with me and, at various points, came to the same conclusions i did. i felt supported by someone who knew him. very well and some of the things i was finding the hardest person to talk to about this was his son. i took him out to lunch. i remember when i first had an inkling that things were awry, and i presented some of these issues to him. and his response of the time was my father was a storyteller. but i don't think he would do anything to mess with his research. that was his stance. then as the book starting to come together and publication loomed i fact checked the book and made it clear this might not make for pleasant reading. and that the conclusion i came to may not put his father in the best light. he's a lovely person. jack rosenhan. he actually called me two days ago after he read the book in full. and he says he actually likes it. he said it was hard to read but in many ways the twinkle that was his father, this charismatic man, this amaz
