i'm jon kelley. we do have a team in place at the fire that flared up next to highway 101. christie smith now talking to neighbors who are now forced out of their homes. let's start things off with bob redell with the latest from the firefighters. what's happening? >> reporter: good morning to you, jon and marla. we're on the scene where the fire is out. it's been out for some time around 3:00 this morning. one man is in custody in relation to this. give you a little wit of the lay of the land. we're near 101 and 280. looking up the street is boutwell. give you a sense of how serious this fire was, san francisco had about a third of their on-duty staff. many still out here. 130 firefighters roughly, the fire started in that second building of boutwell, a vacant building now destroyed and from there expect three other two-story m two-story homes, they suffered serious damage. everyone was able to get out okay. the fire department ended having to call for a fourth alarm. that gives you an idea how serious it was. there was so much flame shooting out that it went across street

"today in the bay's" christie smith is live at oakland's children hospital with more on this sad story. good morning. >> reporter: it really is a disturbing story. three adults are under arrest this morning and a 3-year-old boy is fighting for his life here at children's hospital in oakland. now police are asking for the public's help locating four other children with ties to that little boy that they feel may be at risk. and they say other family members aren't saying exactly where these four children are. now according to the tribune this morning, monday morning paramedics were called to a house on 63rd street in north oakland for a report of an unresponsive little boy. a baby-sitter said that the little boy was left alone and found facedown in a bathtub

this morning, san jose authorities will take a first step in clearing out a homeless encampment in kelley park where suspicious fires have broken out over the past two weeks. three other fires were set within a 12-hour period. warning signs will go up at 9:00 a.m. giving advance notice there is a plan sweep of the encampment. they are hoping they will move out their belongings since the law requires the city to store any proper taken during a sweep. >> they will present closing arguments today. former software company owner is convicted of killing his wife in the oakland hills back in 2006. a judgment in the name of children would allow them to go after any assets and entitle to them that reiser may make in the future. reiser is acting as his own attorney in the case. >> parents and teachers that occupy shuttered elementary school in oakland last month have not given up. they rallied across from lakeview elementary where police forced them to leave after 16 days of protest. lakeview is one of four that were closed. another is being converted to a charter school. they lost 17,000 students

i'm jon kelley. it's the story we're covering all morning long, several lanes of the bay bridge still blocked as the chp investigates a shooting. christie smith is live at the scene in san francisco. what's the latest? >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. i can tell you that traffic was a complete standstill on the lower deck until about ten minutes ago. traffic was stopped before the tunnel. again, this is the direction heading toward oakland. the chp telling us there may have been a pursuit and possible shooting. we're waiting word and also the san francisco police department. i'm told that a shooting incident team is here now from the california highway patrol. this started at about 1:30 this morning. all lanes were shut down for a time completely, and then they reopened two lanes. then about 4:30 this morning they shut it down. we saw a fire truck that was brought on, i spoke briefly with a chp officer who didn't give a lot of details. he said they had a scene they were investigating and wanted

i'm jon kelley. >> police are searching for a gunman who shot two people. it happened on highway 80 near hercules. today stephanie chuang is live in hercules and joins us with the very latest. >> reporter: good morning. we're behind the willow avenue off-ramp. this is where the victims came to this gas station after two people in the car were shot. the car ended up here. a woman and a man hurt. in the back seat another man and three young kids unharmed. the two victims are both 24 years old. they lost control after pinole valley road when somebody else on 80 east shot at their white pontiac. six bullet holes were on the driver's rear door. she saw the man shot for a gunshot to his hand and the woman bleeding from her left stomach area and leg. police are on the search for the gunman. some residents say hearing gunfire in the city is nothing new. >> this is like, i said, this is a pretty safe area here. i mean, but you always hear gun shots and everything. at least where i live. i live in the old part of town. >> investigators closed a stretch of 80 east nea

i'm jon kelley. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. gilroy police this morning trying to piece together the events leading up to the accidental death after 3-year-old boy. >> so very sad and tragic. the child shot at his home just last night, so we're all over this story. bob redell is live in gilroy. he has the latest on this sad scene. what's going on? >> reporter: good morning, jon and laura. gilroy police say this was an awful accident, a 3-year-old boy, the son of a san jose police officer, was shot with handgun just before 5:00 last night at his home on kentwood court here in gilroy. his family was there at the time. so were three other children according to the dispatch, it's possible this might have taken place during a play date. police won't say whether the boy accidentally shot himself or a playmate who accidentally pulled the the trigger. the boy was shot at least once and died on the way to the hospital. police say part of their investigation will focus on how the gun was stored and why a child was able to get their hands
