welcome to the kelly file. i'm shannon bream in for megyn kelly. the latest in nevada where last night jeb bush held a town hall. while the event largely went out without a hitch for mr. bush there was a moment during a q and a session on african american issues that mr. bush was briefly interrupted. watch. >> first and foremost, all leaders, whether they're presidents running for president, city council members, mayors governors, everybody needs to be engaged in this to recognize this is a serious problem. perceptions become priority. there is racism in america. no one should deny that. although there's been serious progress -- i'm sorry. i'll finish. i'm trying to -- [ inaudible ] >> i relate to that by saying -- i relate to it as a president to try to create a climate where there is civilian understanding. >> and shortly after the town hall wrapped up while bush was shaking hands and talking with folks one on one, that now familiar chant began. >> black lives matter! black lives matter! >> after that started, mr. bush stayed in the room for two

kate kelly, what's going on?ments here on the purported monsanto sin genta deal. the large agricultural company monsanto made an overture to syngenta the swiss pesticide company in may. that was rebuffed. but john paulsen looking to see a deal still come together. someone familiar with paulsen's thinking tells me he thinks actually the two sides are not too far apart on price which indicates of course that they're still talking. a recent investor poll suggested that most investors would like to see at least a 5% premium on that $45 billion original price. we'll see about that. but i can also tell you that paulson has taken a small position in syngenta and if the terms were correct would likely vote those shares in favor of a monsanto purchase. details still emerging but this deal's been in the news because people seem to think it's being resurrected, kelly, and my reporting suggests that that's the case. one major arb seems to think it very well may work out. >> kate thank you very much. our kate kelly with the l

>> i think megyn kelly was asking tough questions because she is megyn kelly. she is a tough questioner. people understand that. the comments made as the package last night, i think mr. trump, part of the reason he gets the popularity that he has is because he's not by his own words politically correct. what goes with that is he has to be careful with his words. there is no question, he needs to clarify that comment. >> do you renounce those comments then? >> look, i know my job is not to renounce comments or not. if he stands by them, that is inappropriate. i hope mr. trump, because he does speak off the cuff and he doesn't subscribe to politically correctness and in a way that was not thought out. he needs to clarify that this morning. >> at what point do these comments become damaging to the party as a whole. specifically to women and minorities. two voting blocks that republicans have been work are hard to recruit. >> we have done very well reaching out to young women and african-americans and hispanic going into the community. putting a lot of money and ma

kelly. kelly referred to her show after vacation, and trump said, liked the kelly file better without megyn kelly. the two first feuded after kelly asked him during a debate about his comments regarding women. >> you called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals. >> reporter: soon after, trump said during an interview, you know, you can see there was blood coming out of her eyes. blood coming out of her wherever. >> kelly's colleagues came to her defense. the head of fox news is asking for an apology from trump. a new poll shows the majority of latino voters, 65%, view him negatively. >> thank you. >>> we are keeping a close eye on the asian stock markets, tonight, trying to get a handle on which direction wall street will be headed tomorrow. this is video from the tokyo stock market. right now, japan's nikkei average is up 70 points, but the shanghai composite is down 100. shanghai is the big concern because worries of the economy have been bla id f the stock mark

megyn kelly is a reporter. we get the whole thing with the party and reporters, and candidates and reporters. this is a fight you don't want to get into. then to make it so personal, it really makes it harder for people i think going forward to look at this candidacy in a way that says, okay, this is something serious and i can take it legitimately. i think there was some bleeding that came from the debate on thursday night. i think this is now growing into a cause for real concern or should within that campaign because the numbers i think are going to reflect that problem that he's beginning to build for himself. kasie is absolutely right. in the south, no, this just does not play with a lot of republicans in the south. >> kathleen? >> i hope it doesn't play with a lot of republicans across the country because i don't think it's the south who should be particularly offended by offensive comments against women. it should be everybody. i was appalled at his initial take on megyn kelly at the debate and the notio

i stood up and cheered when megyn kelly asked that question. mr. cohen can come on and say he'd rather talk about the issues. well the purpose of a campaign is to prove that you have the character to become president of the united states. and when you demean a woman for asking a necessary question that voters want to hear about, that shows that you don't have the character to take that office. >> katrina, i mean i know you're a trump supporter. do you have any concerns that he just has a really thin skin? i mean we've had many presidents and many folks in the white house who have had thin skins and often that over time causes real issues certainly for reporters and for many people. do you have any concerns about that? do you think those questions were appropriate? >> i don't have any concerns. i mean this was mr. trump's very first national debate on that stage in that element. so i'm going to give him a pass for this first one and see how things develop. and i do i agree, i think the question was relevant. however, mr. trump is an entertainer. "th
