burned out cabin. >> i hear screaming. >> plus exclusive video of the gun battle as it went down. >>> good evening. i'm kento one of the biggest man hunts california has ever seen. sources tell us the charred body in a cabin is believed to be christopher dorner's. police won't confirm that he is dead because they haven't been inside the cabin yet. the cabin went up in flames after a shoot out one that carter evans found himself in the middle of. >> this all happened in the angela oaks area, south of big bear lake, about 20 miles from where dorner's truck was found last week. david jackson is at the foot of the mountain tonight and joins us live. david. >>reporter: we've been told by police authorities that we still have to go with the information that we still don't know initially know who or who the dead body was inside that cabin in big bear. it's not confirmed by lapd sources, who will have the final say on there. we don't know how long it will take place to find out what went on. we know the cab sin still smolderring -- smouldering and hot. >>reporter: investigators say it's still too hot to go in. >>

ken bastida. >> and i'm elizabeth cook. it looks like it's finally over. fugitive excop, christopher dorner is dead. his body is inside a burnedin near big bear. cbs reporter, teresa garcia is near big bear with what the end of a dramatic day. teresa. >> reporter: it is expected to take several hours, if not days to process all of the evidence. investigators are saying they still need to confirm whether the body inside is indeed that of the suspect, christopher dorner, and cbs law enforcement sources are telling us there is a body inside that cabin, which burned for at least two hours. sources tell cbs news that they believe christopher dorner's body is inside a cabin. but los angeles police say it is still too hot to go inside to confirm his death. the cabin went up in flames during the standoff with law enforcement. police swarmed the area and cornered dorner, who had apparently been hiding out in the mountains. when they arrived, the bullets started flying. cbs reporter, carter evans, was near the scene and recorded the gun battle on his cell phone. >> i hear some screaming. >> two deputies were shot in the exchange, one of

burned cabin near big bear is believed to be that of christopher donor. he's the ex la police officer who investigators say killed four people. ken wayne is monitoring this breaking news all afternoon and he joins us now in the newsroom with what appears to be the end of this massive man hunt. >> reporter: it appears to have been resolved. authorities searched the burned out cabin near big bear, law enforcement sources are saying a body was recovered but not confirmed it's time. sources tell the la times a single gunshot was heard as authorities moved in on the cabin. they did that by breaking windows and pumping in tear gas and aloud speaker urging the suspect to surrenderer. after not getting a response, a vehicle was deployed to tear down the cabin walls one by one. police focused their search on the basement. the police assault capped off a series of rapid events since the man believed to be him reappeared. a couple was held hostage for several days and called police today after he fled in their pickup truck. that truck was spotted by police and a gubattle e resulted during a vehicle chase. the suspect fled the vehicle into t
