. >> i'm ken wayne and we begin tonight with double-murder suspect air bassler has been killed by authorities. the mendocino county sheriff's office holding a press conference that was to start at 6:00, but we have been told it's delayed for a few minutes. and once it begins we'll go to fort bragg live. >>> onto other news and three people are dead tonight after a particularly violent car crash that happened near the nimitz freeway in oakland. kiro-7's eric savidge is live in san leandro to explain why police were chasing this car when this accident happened. >> well, investigators say that the people in that car stole falcon this food max store, but when an officer tried to stop the car in apartment, the driver took off and head towards the freeway that is just a block or so away from here. headed north on 880 towards oakland. police were in pursuit and minutes later there was a deadly crash. the violent crash currentled this 1990 buick sedan, the car slammed into a concrete divider and burst into flames. three people inside were killed on impact, one woman survived. >> we found some of the

i'm ken wayne. heather holmes is off tonight. thousands of drivers were stuck on eastbound 580 in oakland as authorities investigate what they call a homicide, involving a hells angel motorcyclist. this is live picture from chopper 2. there is very light traffic because the freeway is closed. authorities closed the eastbound direction at high street in oakland, closing it around 4:00 this amp, and it's been closed for several hours, about 6 hours. you can see the flashing lights of police vehicles on scene. that pair -- paratransit van is the center of the investigation. the driver of the van is under arrest, accused of intentionally running over a motorcyclist on the freeway. we have learned the motorcyclist is a member of the hells angels motorcycle club. the freeway has been closed for some time, and there's still a lot of investigation that has to be done. that has created the huge traffic mess. jade hernandez is on the scene, and we will have a live picture from jade in a few minutes. meanwhile, another hells angel is involv

good evening, i am ken wayne. frank somerville is off tonight. >> i'm julie haener. for the second time in a week, there's been a mass murder in california. people in the tiny town of seal beach say they've seen nothing like it. nine people were shot and eight of them are dead. this afternoon, a gunman opened fire inside a busy hair salon. two former salon workers said the killer was the ex-husband of another worker and they had a bitter divorce. shortly after the shooting, the suspect was stopped about a half mile away. >> he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody, being detained by our officers i should say at the location without incident. >> the suspect has not been identified, shortly after his arrest, police went to a home in nearby huntington beach and taped it off as a crime scene. >>> new at 10:00, a crowd of about 200 people gathered for a community meeting tonight. in el sorrito. police suggest people keep their doors and windows locked, or perhaps invest in dead bolts. they also called on residence to keep an eye on their neighborhoods. y a reminde

i'm ken wayne. >> the occupy wall street movement established a foot hold in oakland. dozens set up tents saying they are prepared to stay indefinitely. patty lee is live outside city hall and says how police plan to handle the situation. >> reporter: it's unlikely they will stay issue definitely. at least 25 tents have been pitched here and that's despite the fact it's against the code to spend the night and that's because police and the mayor are making an exacception. they say they can spend the night as long as they stay peaceful. a steady drizzle of rain didn't drive away protesters determined to make a statement. >> they can take me to jail until they say we can't be here. >> reporter: he is part of the working for and that is no longer acceptable. > i live paycheck to paycheck and barely make it work. >> reporter: around four this afternoon, 600 went to the plaza carrying signs with a variety of messages and agendas. >> we want health care, education, good living wages, ability to retire in dignity. >> reporter: there is a theme. >> what unifies us is we know th
