thank you, kendis. richard lui live at msnbc headquarters in new york city. as kendis was intimating there, the new york city medical examiner expected to release the autopsy results in the death of jeffrey epstein. there's more questions than answers surrounding epstein's apparent suicide. the disgraced financier was in federal custody awaiting trial on child trafficking charges. multiple people familiar with the investigation tell nbc news epstein was not on suicide watch. in late july after being denied bail he was found injured in his manhattan jail cell. the 66-year-old was semiunconscious at that time and had marks around his neck. sources say he was placed on suicide watch after that. but then, after a mental evaluation, he was then sent back to his own cell in the special housing unit that has bedding and wore prison attire. epstein, a convicted sex offender, was indicted last month on federal charges of trafficking teenage girls as young as 14 to have sex. he pled not guilty to those charges. if convicted, he could have faced up to 45 years in jail.
