wilkes-barre receipt-- abc's kerry sanders is live with us from texas. kerry, good morning.ne. >> to give you an idea of how much of this community has been hit, they estimate about 100 homes and buildings have either been damaged or destroyed. that means a third of this small town of van, texas, was really hammered by this tornado. now, as you said two people died when the tornado came through here. it's been estimated as an f-3. that means the winds were about 165 miles per hour at their top end. as you look at the damage here well you can understand this was a very powerful tornado. and the vast area here that was impacted is perhaps best seen from drones. they sent some drones airborne here with cameras, not to really take a picture of the damage but really they were using these drones to take a look at the possibility of where people may still be buried maybe under some of the debris. looking for survivors. i can tell you now, they have now found all the people who they were looking for. there were three people who as of late last night they didn't know where they were.

kerry sanders has the story. >> reporter: dog lovers are on heightened alert as a dangerous flu viruseads nose to nose. so i don't want her going and saying hello to a dog that looks like it's sneezing or drooly. >> reporter: a newly reported case of canine flu in under investigation in the atlanta area. they don't know if it's the same strain of flu that's killed eight dogs and sickened more than 1700 in the chicago area. test results are expected later this week. >> they will go more in depth about the strain of the flu that it is. but like any virus, it can potentially spread depending on what that dog or who that dog was exposed to. >> reporter: and concern is growing. another case of canine flu was recently confirmed near houston. the illness was also suspected in wisconsin, indiana, and ohio. >> it is an epidemic. it's not, however, something people should panic about. we're not talking about thousands of dogs being brought to their knees. >> reporter: what can you do to prevent it? keep puppies and immune compromised dogs away from other dogs. if you suspect your dog has the fl

we've got it all covered starting with nbc's kerry sanders who is in texas. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, matt. a tremendous amount of damage not only from tornadoes, but there's been a lot of rain. the ground here is saturated. you can see here that saturated rain in the ground along with flash floods have set off problems with things like this sinkhole. but the most damage coming from tornadoes. >> tornado just hit our town! >> reporter: more than two dozen people were injured and some homes were fully destroyed after a severe storm struck the small town of van in northeast texas. >> this is something you only see in movies. seeing where the homes once stood and they're not there anymore. >> reporter: and there was a huge twisting in iowa where it ripped off the roof of the building. inside for a banquet, 125 people hunkered down. remarkably, no one was seriously injured. these weather systems from south dakota to texas creating chaos also packed drenching rain. in krum, texas, up to 4 inches of rain in an hour led to flash floods. >> it w

kerry sanders is in the cockpit of a jet in ft. lauderdale. kerry, is this even possible?hard to believe that somebody who's in the back of the plane could somehow hack into the controls up here in the cockpit. but this hacker claims that he was able to tunnel through the tv entertainment system which is in the headrest of the seat in front of him. he was able to get up into the front of the plane and take control. now the fbi and you newted airlines are taking his claims seriously. >> we're trying to make the system safer and better secure. >> reporter: chris roberts is either a hacker that uncovered a dangerous back door. >> it is definitely possible to manipulate the electronics through the in-flight entertainment system and satellite communications to get to the aifonics of the plane. >> reporter: the fbi says in a newly released affect roberts claimed he hacked through an entertainment and in one case caused one of the engines to climb. while agents continue to look for evidence of that the fbi issued a statement late sunday. there is no credible information to sugges
