judi, dawndy...methe's friends and neighbors showed their support here at the kershaw county courthouse for today's bond hearing. there were very few empty seats behind jimmy methe in the room itself. they were there to ask the judge to grant him a low defendant's character. methe has lived here in camden since 1996.and according to his supporters is an active member of the community. prosecutors feel however he did not have any legal right to fatally shoot 17 year old brandon spencer during that attempted robbery saturday morning. investigators say they concluded spencer was running from methe's home after he came out to confront the two people who were near his truck. according to the kershaw county sheriff's office, there had been several break-ins in methe's neighborhood during recent months. sheriff jim matthews says that gave the defendant no cause to take the law into his own hands.
