montgomery county reporter kevin lewis was the first to report the story and he is live in the glenmont metro station and has a look at the timeline of events here in this case. fill us in. kevin: well, this alleged rape happened on tuesday april 12. that is nearly six weeks ago. metro transit police made a quick arrest. no one notified the public. then this morning i received a tip from a source who felt it was important that riders knew that this happened. here is what prosecutors say occurred. 39-year-old john hicks of northeast washington approached a woman who was sleeping on a red line train. he then brandished a knife, dragged her to the back of the train car and forced her to take off her pants. police say hicks raped the woman while the to station. a lot of people have asked why didn't anyone interview and stop the attack. prosecutors say hicks and the victim were in the train car alone, allowing the race to continue. this ended at the glenmont station. hicks ran off but used the smart trip card to exit so they snatched the data base with the security cameras at glenmont and qu

kevin lewis is on the scene for us this afternoon. michelle: kevin, even more startling here, some say this was no accident. kevin: yeah, absolutely. a number of people we talk to say the driver of the hummer was a former employee of the silver diner. police tell us they have been made aware of the allegations as well but haven't confirmed them yet. take a look at the scene here. the burnt remains on the hummer remain in front of the silver diner. that is where it came to rest. we are told -- and take a look help substantiate what i'm saying -- that the hummer ran in the front three times, hitting a man in his 70's in front entryway. we heard he had trauma to lower half of his body. at some point then the hummer started to smoke. and then orange flames were seen emitting and shooting through the roof. customers had to use a knife or some sharp object to cut the seat belt and get the driver out in time. they then dragged his body across the parking lot and pinned him down until police arrived. police then cuffed him, took him to a hospi

montgomery county reporter kevin lewis is in rockville where it just happened an hour ago. kevin?evin: well, jonathan, simply put, there was so much evidence stacked against reluzco. he had no option but to plead guilty to vehicular manslaughter. in court, prosecutors read the 13-page proper from start to finish which included some newly released photos of the december 3 crash. one of the pictures showed officer noah leotta's damaged squad car. the front driver side door pushed forward. gas cap ripped off. cracked front windshield where officer leotta was hit on reluzco's honda s.u.v. officer leotta sent 27 feet down rockville pike. of course, reluzco had just left the rockville hooters less than a mile away where he had ordered five beers and four shots. the waitress even advised him to order food and slow down. reluzco's attorney describes his client as remorseful. >> from the day that this happened through this day, he has had problems handling what he has done. he knows gravity of his actions. >> these are done as deterrents so the next five people think about it and they may

montgomery county reporter kevin lewis explains exactly what happened here. kevin: it's startling how fast content can spread on social media. in this case, a half naked photo of a damascus high school special needs student using the restroom posted to the smartphone app snapchat. today we spoke to mother of the 18-year-old male victim who are not identifying. the teen was born with cerebral palsy and autism. when he urinates he often lowers his pants to his knees. last week a fellow student took a picture of the victim standing up next to the urinal, his full buttocks exposed. it went viral. the female student disgusted by the bullying notified the administrators who made the photo-taking student write apology letter. but the principal won't say what if any other punishment has been handed down. >> when he learned about a kid laughing, he's humiliated. it got to the point he wouldn't go to the restroom at home. i had to tell him it's okay. go to bathroom. nothing will happen to you. kevin: this teenage victim is refusing to return to class, half confused and

i'm kevin lewis. abc7 news. michelle: thank you. new at 4:00, two women accused of stealing bags of clothing from a victoria's secret in charles county face charges. you see the video playing out here. they were caught on camera. alison starling at the live desk with how the community helped solve the crime. alison: you probably remember the video. the charles county sheriff office says a lot of tips came in and that helped them identify the two suspects in the video. it prepped april 27. a passerby started recording the video of the women as they trash bags full of merchandise from the front display. right in the front there at the victoria's secret. this was in waldorf. officers did receive numerous tips on the potential suspects. so they ended up obtaining an arrest warrant for one of the women. 23-year-old alexis press on the of d.c. charges are pending against a 17-year-old as well. whose name has not been released to the public. so police say they have recovered a number of the stolen items that day. so they are still looking
