"don't close the trail." he kept biking down. the purple line has been a contentious topic from the get-go in large part it does stand to impact this beloved path. now yesterday, officials posted a notice online stating that a 3.5-mile stretch of the trail will close on tuesday. it is the portion between downtown bethesda and silver spring. the real kicker here is that the closure is expected to last between four and five years. officials now distributing a map. the purple representing the soon to be closed george-up to branch trail. the red is the new detour which will route people on to jones bridge road and other area streets that are not equipped with bike lanes. among the dissenters the varsity cross country team at bethesda chevy chase high school. >> we pretty much use this trail to practice on every day. we do all ofou all of the easy runs here. so not having it is going to be a really big hindrance to training. >> i

jonathan: kevin lewis has the developing story. riders need to be on the lookout for this guy. kevin: they certainly do. metro transit police say the woman was riding up one of the escalators wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m. when she felt a hand up her skirt. later that evening she went online and filed a report through wmata's website. then today metro trance it police released a wanted flyer of the man they say is responsible. he is wearing camouflage pants and a necklace. he is milling about the base of the escalators that takes riders from the columbia heights station up to georgia avenue. after reviewing the surveillance footage, police believe this other women, too. but the women didn't realize it. as you might imagine female metro riders are not pleased about this. what would you have done if you caught him in the act? >> screamed. i probably would have just got away from him. my first impulse wouldn't be to confront him. as a girl you are not going to confront a strange man who has already violated you. >> i would have been shocked but it would be a reflex to hit him.

kevin lewis is on the scene with what happened. kevin, break it down. castles -- kevin: this is a terrible two-car crash. the tow truck driver is gathering the the intersection. on the back of the flatbed tow truck is the victim's car. three people were inside the vehicle. it's now mangled. this is happening where 14th and d street converge with kentucky avenue in front of the safeway grocery store. d.c. police tell us two men carjacked a blue ford. along rhode island avenue in mount rainier just over the prince george's county line. a d.c. officer later spotted the stolen blue ford on benning road and tried to stop it. but the ford sped off, ultimately running a red light at this corner where it t-boned the gray acura. they had to remove the roof and the doors of the victim's car that had four people inside. two taken to the hospital with critical injuries. the d.c. police did manage to catch the two suspects who tried to walk away from the crash scene. >> there was a vehicle stolen from maryland that the d.c. officers spotted. the d.c. officers didn't
