kiet do is in san jose with some of the trouble spots for drivers. kiet? >> reporter: yeah, i want to show you some breaking news happening out here in san jose. this is 280 northbound right at the 880 interchange and the exit off stevens creek. you are looking at -- what looks to be a serious injury crash. this happened right before we went on the air at the top of the hour. we heard screeching and a loud crash. one person is going to the hospital. pretty big backup. the exit is closed for now. this morning, we saw a lot of flooding on the freeways. if there was ever a good time to keep both hands on the wheel, it was this morning. yeah. this was the scene in the south bay this morning. this is video of the exit off 880 northbound and the alameda. the heaviest rains fell around midnight to 3:00 a.m., all of that water clogged the storm drains. the water here at the alameda was about a foot deep. luckily, all of the drivers we saw were able to stop in time and make it through the standing water. this particular place, the floodwater spilled on 880 itself,

kpix 5 reporter kiet do is in pacifica. kiet, what's the latest on those evacuations?> reporter: the building at 3:10 esplanade has been evacuated and yellow-tagged which means the 20 residents can only come to remove property. they are not going quietly into the night. building was yellow-tagged at 2 p.m. yesterday and police were on hand to enforce it. at a city council meeting last night staffers presented photos showing what inspectors said was erosion from el nino storms eating away at the bluff below. the city has been checking the cliffs twice a day for weeks and said the building is no longer safe to live in. but neighbors have filed an appeal claiming the city has no basis for the decision and has no documentation to support it. the appeal goes on to say there's plenty of cliffside left and residents should be allowed back inside. here's building owner willard tong. >> the back of the building we still have probably 20 feet of bluff left and i was under the understanding that before any evacuation would happen, we would have to probably lose another 12 feet. >

kiet do is in san jose. >> reporter: good morning. you know, i had a chat with mayor sam liccardo last summer about this. he didn't say who, what, when or where but hinted something huge was coming to san jose. well, now it is all official. last night, the city council approved unanimously the plans for apple to move into an 86- acre campus here in north san jose. this is near 101 and highway 87 along first street and component drive. if you have ever been by here you know an empty lot of this size in such a location is rare in sillicon valley. as part of the agreement apple can grow and develop the site for 15 years. that means it could be up to 4.15 million square feet for office space research and development and make it bigger than its current headquarters in cupertino. the new north san jose campus would have room for up to 20,000 new jobs. all those new employees means more congestion. >> traffic is always down the side of every bit of good news. we recognize that. they will be paying ten of millions of in property taxes as we b

kpix 5's kiet do is live at the newby island resource recovery park where a body was found this morning. kiet. >> reporter: good afternoon. we just got off the phone with republic services. they say they have turned over the site to san jose police and that they are cooperating fullly. as you can imagine, the site is huge. but the scene is in a small corner of the southeastern part of the property called the resource recovery park. it's where they process their recycling. the body is on the opposite side of this building. at 7:30 this morning, san jose police got a call of a body that was found inside a container. exactly what kind of container be it a rolling garbage can, dumpster or cargo container, we do not know. sjpd only saying that the case is not being investigated as a homicide. the coroner is called out to the scene. the address here says milpitas but technically it's san jose's jurisdiction. this investigation isn't slowing down operations. trucks have been moving through all morning. the landfill is still open and you can still bring your large items to the dump. kiet do, kp

kpix 5 reporter kiet do has the latest from gilroy where the manage long distance bus was towed. kiet. >> reporter: good afternoon. we're live here at the towing company on monterey highway in gilroy where in just the past half-hour, about a dozen state and federal investigators have arrived on scene. they tell us they will have an update at 2 p.m. here at the scene later today. in the meantime the coroner has also released the name of the second victim. her name is maria ortiz velazquez, 76 years old from salinas. now sits in the tow yard in gilroy, the focus of not one but two teams from the chp and the ntsb. they are running parallel investigations trying to figure out what this man, 58-year-old gary bonslater from victorville, was doing. witnesses say he was nodding off at the wheel and he had pulled over in gilroy to get coffee to stay away wake. in fact bonslater even told authorities he was exhausted. the investigators will put together a 24-hour profile to determine what bonslater was doing in the days leading up to the crash. meanwhile, anen to john al vera has been waiti

kpix 5's kiet do is live in san jose's alviso area to explain what makes this ballot measure so unique. >> reporter: we are live in alviso the lowest spots the neighborhood where parts of the neighborhood are 13 feet below sea level. now a group called the san francisco restoration bay authority says if we don't do anything, by the end of this century, much of the bay shoreline including this spot right here could be threatened by rising sea levels. it's happening already with the king tides that floods local streets especially during heavy rain. the authority says this king tide will be an everyday occurrence by the year 2030. that's just 14 years from now. and so the authority is going to the voters in all nine bay area counties. the first time it's ever been done. and this june they will be asking for a $12 annual parcel tax on the ballot to try to raise half a billion dollars over 20 years to be used to fortify levees, restore wetlands and build floodplains to protect the shore. the areas in red show 200 square miles of shoreline that will face flooding if the bay rises by 56" whic
