. >> reporter: somehow kimberly needed to write about the last seven years on one page. >> my father had a major seizure. >> reporter: it forced her to go right into the day her family's lives changed. >> a brain tumor occupying a large portion of his brain. >> it was difficult remembering it. remembering the overall feeling of panic. >> reporter: while on a 2-week family vacation she wrote about her father's first seizure. >> he could not control the left side of his body, his arm, his face was drooping a little bit. >> reporter: weeks later the doctors told her dad it would be too risky to remove the tumor from his brain. >> is he going to be all right? how is it going to effect him? and will he still be the same? >> reporter: if the tumor responded to the chemo and did not grow anymore in size in the next few years his chance of survival looked good. he survived those next few years. and his brain tumor is now stable. it has not grown since discovering it. >> it made me realize how much the people around me care for me and i care for them. >> reporter: he suffers five seizures a d

live in santa clara, kimberly terry, nbc bay area news. >> let's check in with anthony slaughter. we heard the man saying it will be in the 8 atys next week. is he trying to take your job? >>> i heard that. i thought, really, will we? temperatures will cool into the 80s but not until friday so we have a long period of temperatures in the 90s and triple digits. we have an excessive heat warning today through tuls. today temperatures got up to 109 in walnut creek, 108 dublin, livermore at 105. through tuesday, temperatures in the east, north and south bay, including the peninsula, will top out near 95 at least through 110. remember, this is dangerous heat. drink plenty of water. remember your pets and kids. if it's too hot for you, it's definite live too hot for them. if you do have to be out, you want to at least limit your time to 30 minutes at a time, find shade and get some water. remember, water is the best thing you can have in your system, especially in heat like this. as we mentioned, 80s in our future. i'll have the cooldown coming up in a bit. >>> in other news now, a bay
