king. amazing. today, i have the privilege to introduce our keynote speaker, taylor branch, now that i look over there, i hope taylor is here. he was sitting over here. is he? taylor, of course, has written many books. you probably have written some of them, if not you need to. and, of course, i would be remiss if i didn't call him out as being one of our great alumni from the university of north carolina. he's a tar heel. and i know the hydes over here are tar heels. taylor is also a moorehead scholar and also i wanted to say that with his many, many achievements and awards that he's received, i think the biggest, of course, is the pulitzer prize that he won. in his narrative history of the civil rights era and it's called "america in the king years." not surprisingly, taylor has a lot to say about dr. martin luther king jr. i, however, have a few things to say. dr. king's powerful message of fairness and inclusion to me has always been significantly important in my life. i'll tell you why
