kpix 5's emily turner reports.ing this wintry blast. >>> reporter: that winter storm warning went into effect at 10 p.m. last night. the scene behind me is going to change dramatically over the next 24 to 48 hours with all of the snow they are expecting here in tahoe. caltrans used the lull during the day to prepare for the storm that we are now experiencing. they are restoring sand and salt to keep the roads clear. now, yesterday, we certainly saw on and off chain restrictions on 50 as well as on 80. caltrans says that they are ready to move the snow and it should be much smoother than the thanksgiving weekend because there's less traffic during the week which is good news for the folks up here. most of them have opened in the last week and they are expecting up to oo three feet of snow. snow levels will drop down to 4,000 feet here this morning. they dropped down to lake level right around midnight which is great. they hope the storm will set up a great weekend and good holiday season beyond the obvious concern o
