you can find us on kpix and pix+ and streaming on the free cbs news app. >>> turning to weather, the first significant rain of the season is about to arrive. there's a storm to our north and it's headed our way. first alert chief meteorologist paul heggen tracking that system. >> yeah. that view of the golden gate bridge looks a bit more ominous than the current situation, but we're seeing showers beginning to make their way into the light bay, very light activity in marin county, more substantial rain in northern sonoma county. let's zoom in to look at what's happening as we pan farther north. this is the closest radar site, so it's not quite as impressive looking, the other radar picking up a little moisture farther up in the atmosphere, but it's shower activity making its way north to south across the bay area this evening which means the highest rain chances in the north bay will occur in the next six hours or so peaking in the 70 to 80% range. it's not a guarantee of rain but a good chance overall. that rain will drop towards san francisco beginning after the sun goes down and t

from kpix, this is the late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. >> hello. i'm sara donchey. >>> all this rain we've had has definitely made its mark. we may be closing the book on fire season, but it's come at a price after historic downpours. we know two people have died and the damage is adding up. two storm-related deaths are under investigation in sonoma county. one man was found dead in a car saturday on a flooded road in guerneville. another body was found in a santa rosa creek. for others, the rain meant they lost much of what they owned. kara st. cyr was in guerneville with the story of a family who was barely settling in when the rain forced them out. >> reporter: the atmospheric river brought feet of rain to some parts of northern california, triggering landslides and flooding roads. in guerneville about 20 miles from santa rosa trava faust saw her new home swell with water in less than 24 hours. the aftermath was devastating. >> he's doing his best. >> reporter: faust and her partner had just signed a lease of their three-story home and were stil
