ktvu's kraig debro is near the park street bridge where you can actually see it bulging, right, kraig? >> reporter: you can from certain angles. it's on forge street just behind me a few steps from the park street bridge. it's quiet right now but during the commute hour it gets really crowded. people going to 880 or 23rd avenue or 29th avenue in oakland and the wall that caused the closure of several roads last night is now dangerously close to falling and causing another huge mess. police reopened the street around 10:00 p.m. last night. it was closed earlier in the evening because of precarious tilt of one of the walls in this building. the space used to be rented out for storage and musicians needing a place to practice. that all changed a couple of years ago. take a look at these pictures. a tremendous fire broke out here a couple years ago. i believe it was 2007. flames could be seen for miles. ktvu was the first to show you these flames back then. co-workers coming to work at 3:30 in the morning actually spotted the glow and alerted our news desk. nobody was hurt in the fire but

good morning, kraig. >> reporter: good morning, pam. they found two dozen leaks on that same pipeline that exploded. and the pipeline runs north from oyster point along 101 and down grand avenue in the direction of san bruno. the cause of the september ninth explosion that killed eight and destroyed 39 homes have not been determined. words of the utility have discovered dozens of leaks cause for concern. they ordered pg&e to inspect 69 miles of pipeline. according to another published report pg&e has repaired 59 gas pipeline leaks. 29 were found in areas considered hazardous to population areas or buildings. utilities has a big -- federal investigators say pg&e believed the san bruno transition mine was a seamless pipe. it was not. raising the possibility that the amount of gas pressure in the pipe might have been higher than a seamed pipe could handle. people in san francisco know that same pipe goes go through their town. we are trying to get reaction from people to let them now how this report will effect them. reporting live in san

ktvu's kraig debro is out there right now. how does it look this morning, kraig? >> reporter: dave, ford street isn't open. a truck moving through here right now. it's not just trucks. there are several cars that use this street. people coming from alameda across the park street bridge into oakland through ford going north on 880 or south on 880, either way it's very important. so far we have not heard from city officials as to what they've done to prevent the problem from happening again. we could be looking at a problem with the morning commute as you watch more cars go through this area now. that's exactly what happened last night. a big problem. ford street closed down because one of the buildings here has a wall like the leaning tower of pisa. traffic had to be diverted because of threat it might fall into the street. the street reopened about 10:00 p.m. last night. it's not clear what was done to make the wall safe enough to warrant the reopening. a man who works in this area says he thinks the weather played a role in what happened to the wall. >> i think i

ktvu's kraig debro is there with the police department now getting word from investigators. good morning, kraig. >> reporter: good morning, pam. we're at the station here in east oakland. quite frankly the area where this boys and girls club is located was just too unsafe at this time of the day. in this case you might think the circumstances are even worse. the police i talked to this morning said when they read the report it made the hair on the back of their neck stand up. the victim is a 7-year-old boy. medical staff at children's hospital alerted police about 8:45 last night. police tell us the boy told his mother what happened and she took her child to the hospital. police say the boy was violently raped in the bathroom of a boys and girls club at 85th avenue and international boulevard in east oakland. the victim did not tell anyone at the club. the original investigation looked into the role two other male juveniles played in the rape but there could be more suspects. this morning police tell me they're going to the club to question staff and find out who was there a

good morning, kraig. >> reporter: good morning, pam. in fact i talked to the principal earlier this morning. he tells me the airports of the students there are coming to get their kids whether they're sick or not. one of three students at walker creek ranch just a few miles west of here. no telling how many fifth graders from this school are actually sick, but according to the principal at the camp, most are already on their way home. again, just talked to the principal at walker creek camp in west marin county this morning. he told me the kids began getting sick yesterday afternoon. the ranch has been operating since 1963 as an outdoor residential science camp. the principal says it's not unusual for a bunch of fifth and sixth graders sleeping and eating together to pass a virus, but then the number of sick children, chaperons and staff members started to grow. that and the symptoms forced the school officials to call paramedics. >> we had what we believe was probably some kind of viral flu bug where students were getting sick to their

let's go back to kraig debro who is looking at a problem in san francisco. kraig has it cleared up? >> oh, yeah it has, sal. it's cleared up here. we're at bayshore and silver. it's also not raining in the area. this is one of the patches where we're not getting any rain. you are looking at a truck san francisco and 280 northbound. the problem started about -- what is it? eight hours ago, with the sunshine but now that problem is fixed. it was fixed about 40 minutes ago. just before the bulk of the moving commute. so that's good news. this is what the belly of the -- what was the 280 southbound 101 connector looked like about an hour and a half go. caltrans crews using a saw to cut through a roadway sign above that 280 split. after sawing from that -- that sign, they removed it. this all began shortly after midnight, about eight hours ago. chp says a big box truck hit the northbound 280 sign. kind of an unusual happenstance. that sign has been up there for years without any big box truck hitting it. maybe the truck was sitting higher than they normally do. minutes later after that c

good morning, kraig. >> reporter: yeah, good morning, pam. this is called san ramon elementary school but it is in novato. i just talked to the principal this morning. we're here at this school because it's closest to the camp of all the three schools. the camp is for fifth and sixth graders. but according to the principal with whom i just spoke, only fifth graders are ill this morning. the principal at the ranch said the camp provides children short trips with nature. now most are in a long trip home. a total of 56 students, high school chaperons and parents came down with the illness. diarrhea and vomiting are just two of the symptoms. about 250 kids a week visit the ranch but with most of the kids staying in cabins, the potential for a larger infection is high. >> but it spread pretty quick, particularly through some cabins. and we have been in contact with parents obviously to pick up the sick kids and in an abundance of caution had some of our local medical professionals come in. we've been in contact with our county medical professional

kraig debro joins us from south san francisco with the results of recent inspections.ing . >> reporter: good morning, pam. the pg&e the information submitted yesterday a report that said 21 gas leaks were found near people and buildings. three of them here in san francisco. north of oyster point and down along highway 101 here to grand avenue and then up grand avenue and the direction of san bruno. now i have just spoken with a gas pipeline safety expert on the phone. he says the leaks are serious but he can only think of one other example where a gas leak actually caused the kind of rupture we saw back on september ninth. the san bruno explosion killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. the report submitted says the utility has fixed the leak. in addition to the 21 that are close to people and buildings. pg&e told the regulatory agency said it found and fixed 38 others. according to richard cooper a gas leak did not cause the san bruno explosion. >> it's extremely rare in my 30 years of experience in investigating these pipelines. >> reporter: i asked him if he was
