debro, kraig?porter: it's all happening over here and you mentioned we have reports we have now been able to confirm there is a standoff between police and the man that lives in the complex. it started at 2:30 this morning and he says it is an every night occurrence. every night he asks this man to turn down his stereo and he was threatened by the person inside the apartment and called police. now the latest, we have been listening to the scanner traffic and we understand the police said the man has a machete and at one point he said bang bang, you are dead and the man said he was seen with a handgun and they put up tape to prevent people from going any further. you can see a fire truck engine on the scene and behind that there is an ambulance of course just incase this situation should get violent. we have been told by police they are getting ready to shut down the whole area. we don't know when but it has something to do with the life of a standoff and the fact that rush hour is fast approaching.

ktvu kraig debro is outside the federal courthouse in san francisco now. kraig. >> reporter: good morning, dave. prosecutors want barry bonds to go to prison. defense attorneys are hoping to win an appeal. whatever the final outcome here today will be eight months this months since the case began. it will end here with the sentencing this morning. barry bonds was acquitted of obstruction of justice. federal sentencing guidelines call for a sentence of 15-21 months. bonds will not likely serve any sentence until the appeal is final. there are things that bonds could do/should do while his appeal is heard. >> the court of appeals will look more favorably on his case if he's already engaged with the community. he's done a fair amount of community service. the question is will he do any community service related to this. he's never admitted to steroid use. he can't go represent to the community about steroid use. on the other hand once the case is done, he doesn't have any jeopardy. he's only worried about the hall of fame after this case. >> reporter: so far
