according to reports, he hit the curb and went straight into that store. neither the police officer nor anyone inside is hurt. we've been told the police may have detained a suspect in connection with the robbery but another person got away. >>> the spirit of cheerleaders at piedmont hills high school is down over a -- the principal of the san jose holiday says cheerleaders have to wear sweat pants under their skirts while they are at school. this is because the skirts violate the dress code which says hem lines have to be at least -- they have to at least hit mid thigh. the leaders say the rule posing as a victim of the san bruno explosion. on friday, 26-year-old nisha taylor pleaded no contest to charges of second-degree burglary, offering a forged document, and identity theft. after the explosion, taylor and her boyfriend told government officials all of her belongings and identification had been destroyed. they told police they rented a room from one of the owners of the burned appearing here this morning. back to you. . >>> we have breaking news just coming in right now from st. louis, missouri. officials confirm that this u.s. airways flight, 457, that was bound from j.f.k. in new york city to phoenix has been diverted to lambert field in st. louis for a security- related incident. passengers were taken off the plane immediately. federal authorities have been notified. there's no word yet if police have taken anyone into custody. passengers are apparently waiting in the concours to reboard the plane. it has been inspected and will continue to phoenix today. there has been a number of heightened security issues because of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. we don't know what the cause of this particular security issue was. but this is u.s. airways plane that was heading from j.f.k. in new york, to phoenix, stopped in st. louis. they did a search of the plane. it seems that they have gotten the green light now. passengers will be getting back on and 7:33. a south bay construction worker is recovering this morning after being buried up to his neck in dirt for almost four hours. soil at the surface shifted and filled up the hole before he could get out. rescue workers stabilized. soil around him. they cleared away the dirt. he was not happy, we're -- he was not hurt, we're happy to tell you. but he was taken to the hospital just as a precaution. >>> a phony san francisco doctor who treated patients without any sort of a medical license was sentenced to six years in prison. 68-year-old timothy anderson was known to dr. syad to his former dermatology patients. there were 30 victims treated out of a home office in the sunset district. he pleaded guilty to practicing medicine without a license and scamming patients out of $150,000. with time served, he will probably be out of prison in a few years. >>> a trial is underway for an oakland man accused of killing another man over a stolen ipod. in opening statements yesterday, prosecutors claim that 22-year-old pierre rushing got out of the car on international boulevard and shot 25-year-old ja'wan taylor on april 15. defense attorneys say there's really no direct evidence and the case is shaky because it's based on testimony from drug users and prostitutes. >>> 7:34. well, the regents for the university of california meet thursday in san francisco. they will consider raising tuition. "the chronicle" reports that fees could go up at least 8% or as much as 16% every year through the year 2016. the annual undergraduate tuition would rise from possibly 12,000 right now to 22,000 in four years. that doesn't even include books, room and board. uc says they need the money to cover state budget cutbacks and a growing enrollment. >>> town, the mount diablo school board is expected to decide whether they will convert clayton valley high school to a charter school. the board will approve the petition or deny it. if the board votes to approve the condition with conditions, those conditions will have to be met by february 1st. if they approve the charter tonight, it will be in place for three years starting in the fall of 2012. >>> 7:35. hatching now in southern california. >> the search is on for an 8- year-old boy described as severely autistic. the boy ran away from his elementary school near big bear nearly 24 hours ago. lin net romero is live in -- lynnette romero is live in twin peaks to tell us why this search is different from other reasons. >> reporter: one of the reasons, the autism. joshua is very afraid of strangers and loud noises. so there's concern that he might run away from help or run away from the helicopters. they are concerned about that. the other thing that's going on this morning,s sheriff's department here, one of the things that's happening is severe weather. we've had a couple of big downpours. a lot of thunder and lightning. that's really impacting this search. let me tell you a little bit more about 8-year-old joshua rob. he disappeared while on the playground at grandview elementary school. it was about 11:00 yesterday morning. he was apparently known to be a flight risk because of his autism. somehow he got out. his parents tell us they haven't seen him for at least a week, maybe longer. they recently lost their home to foreclosure. this son was placed in protective custody. they are very concerned about his son -- about their son being out there in this terrain, it's rugged terrain. it's wilderness area. it's cold. now it's wet. he's been out in the wilderness all night long. the hope from searchers here is he's been able to find some shelter and he's hunkering down and he's waiting for help. i can tell you a few minutes ago, we saw a helicopter go overhead. we do know they've begun the air search. there are at least 60 searchers on the ground and other locations at the command post as part of their search. so they are definitely increasing their searches now that the sun is up. back to you. >> as soon as we get more information, we'll bring it to you. >>> let's check in with sal. see how your commute is going. sal? >> reporter: well, secretary of state, hillary clinton, just spoke about the possible release of the two u.s. hikers who have been imprisoned in iran and they could be freed by this thursday. >> we are encouraged by what the iranian government has said today. but i'm not going to comment further than that. we obviously hope we will see a positive outcome from -- from what appears to be a decision by the government. >> reporter: now, just last month, an i rin yun court -- iranian court convicted the two men for spying. that was more than two years ago that they went on the hike. earlier this morning, the iranian court had agreed to set bail for the two men at $500,000 each. if they can come up with that money, the plan is they will be freed on thursday. sarah shourd was the third hiker. she was released last year on humanitarian grounds. all three are uc berkeley graduates. students reacted to this news. >> surprised, yes. >> good! >> that's great. that's awesome. like i said, i hope -- it's been a -- especially around campus, it's been kind of a tough subject. >>> nothing surprises me. their detakement does not surprise me nor -- detainment does not surprise me nor does their possible release. >> reporter: why?
