kris sanchez joins us live with the latest information, good morning, kris. >> reporter: good morning, laura. folks are especially concerned about this attack because it happened right in the light of day, but also because the woman who says that she was groped couldn't get, couldn't call for help when she most needed it. let's start with the sketch because we to want make sure that folks know who they're looking for. it is a man described at middle eastern between 45 and 55 years of age. salt and pepper hair, 5'3", and 150 pounds. police say the woman was sitting here in a neighborhood not far from the stan chrd campus. about 11:30 in the morning. she told police he asked her if she was married and wanted to be his good friend. then he put his hand right down her shirt and the encounter did not stop there. >> she told him to stop and kind of pushed him away. once she managed to fully get up completely, he put his arms around her and hugged her. and began kissing her neck. >> reporter: now police say the woman was able to get away and tried calling 911 immediately after that attack, b

"today in the bay's" kris sanchez live in san leandro, local firefighters just left, right kris? >> reporter: they just left about a half hour ago, scott, they're ready for whatever comes, they are headed to napa county. the napa pope county line and that's where they expect to get their marching orders. they could deploy for as long as 14 days. they left in state rigs. earlier they left in their own rigs, but the positions rigs strategically around the state so they can hop in and not leave their home territory uncovered. there are 22 firefighters, women and men from fremont, hayward, livermore, pleasanton, oakland, and the alameda county fire department. they don't know where they're going, but they are ready to hit the ground running. they expect they will be working in steep terrain and as always, they were ready to go. >> other than the military, nobody moves resources and personnel up and down the state of california like your bay area firefighters. >> reporter: now the battalion chief says they will head up to the napa pope county line. they don't know whether they will be

"today in the bay's" kris sanchez joins us live. kris, apparently not enough people are conserving water. they may crack down. >> at least on the outside of our homes. the state water board is considering now mandatory restrictions because the voluntary restrictions don't seem to be doing the job. the state water board recognizes at this point inside our homes, folks are doing what they can, installing low flow toilets and those low flow shower heads. again, the focus is on the outside. the board is considering now fines of up to $500 a day for people who water their front lawns, we lawns, wash their cars without -- with hoses that don't have a shutoff nozzle or folks who have fountains or other water features that don't recirculate. a spokesperson for the water board says don't count on a free pass. >> this situation is severe, so they may be more inclined to give you a ticket or fine after your first warning. it's a touchy subject. >> reporter: it's a touchy subject because the state is also hoping that neighbors will help each oth

that's where we find "today in the bay's" kris sanchez. kris, serving back to normal, right? >> reporter: i'd say quiet, but not back to normal because there's caution tape blocking one of the driveways here. and you can see the fire hose still connected to the hydrant, it's leading up to the dry hillside behind these homes in this neighborhood. but the scene was very active last night as fire crews watched for hot spots, the good news though, no homes burned in the fire that started and took off through the dry brush fanned by winds and hot temperatures. the fire did go to four alarms, as you mentioned, it wasn't the only fire that was taxing resources in the bay area. fire crews fought the fire from the air with helicopters, and on the ground there were several firefighters who were injured. before the folks who lived near this 125 acre fire, it felt a lot bigger and a lot closer. firefighters reminding people to be ready to leave we had they have to evacuate and leave the fireworks to the professionals. >> we got to get out of here in five minutes. we have dogs and it was

kris sanchez live outside the courthouse in san jose where it should be released this afternoon. kris, what does mean for the defendant though, antolin garcia torres? >> reporter: well his attorney will argue that it means that he cannot get a fair trial in santa clara county if everybody knows every intimate detail of the case against him, however, for the judge presiding over this case, he said the public's right to know is overrides that concern for pretrial publicity. this is not a done deal. we will have a crew waiting out here on the steps of the courthouse behind me for the release of that grand jury indictment. the transcript however a judge an appellate judge could block that. for now the presiding judge ruled that the publics right to know overrides concern that the pretrial publicity will interfere with that accused killer, antolin garcia torres's right if to a fair trial. it's expected to be released today. in it he might find out what the evidence against antolin garcia torres is and why he was indicted on murder charges. her family and supporters continue to comb the

let's get right to "today in the bay's" kris sanchez. she's in the news room with the late breaking details. >> reporter: good morning, that flight was 50 minutes into a four hour flight. communication between that crew stops near the algerian border. here's a map of the area. flight departed from the african country and headed for algeria. its been in turmoil. more on that in just a moment. we want to the show you what the plane looks like. it is operated by air aljere. swift air said up to now, no communication with the aircraft, on board the plane are 110 passengers and six crew members of which two are pilots and four are flight attendants. now at this time, the company emergency personnel are working to find out what happened. again that statement coming from swift air which owns the aircraft. now the associated foreign press sights an unnamed company source reporting that the plane was not far from the algerian frontier which the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and collision with another aircraft on that

kris sanchez joining us now.omplicating the searches for victims and clues as to what brought that plane down. i would be so afraid now, as an investigator, even to fly in. >> right. investigators can't even access that main crash site, it's still around control of the rush be separatists. but what we know so far about the two ukrainian fighter jets they were shot down 20 miles from the main crash site. they are jets that can carry a pilot and co-pilot and at this point no one is claiming responsibility. this complicates what is a difficult recovery, an investigation at the debris field six miles long. before that, before those two ukrainian fighter jet were shot down, bodies of flight 17 victims loaded on to the ukrainian military planes for the first leg of their journey home. it was a brief ceremony at the airport, as soldiers carried caskets on to a plane and then another plane carrying bodies of some of the other victims was expected to head to the netherlands today. it is a national day of mourning there. n

"today in the bay's" kris sanchez joins us live in the newsroom this morning, kris, a cousin of the vimt is understandably outraged. >> reporter: yeah, he says that her 12-year-old daughter was waiting for her mom in the car as she watched those robbers take her mom hostage and she was texting her dad for help. the stockton police chief says it appears the three bank robbers later used that mother as a human shield. this is new video of one of the crime scenes this morning where a heavy police presence remains. all started yesterday afternoon when three men armed with a ak-47s and ammunition strapped to their bodies went into the bank of west branch and tied up the security guard. fortunately the guard saw what was happening, able to call 911 just before. within minutes, the suspects with officers already on the scene fled the bank with hostages, two bank employees, and that bank customer. they led police on a chase on a freeway and surface streets out of stockton through nearby lodi, their stolen vehicle riddled with bullets. the stockton police chief says the suspects fired at officers
