kron four's jeff bush explains the new policies. the west contra costa school district was alarmed to find out about the arrest of one of it's teachers for sexual abuse of several children in 2012 and 1013. those allegations stem from several camping trips that ron gento was reportedly involved with before he was hired on by the west contra costa count school district. gento was hired late last year and officials say he was trying to get several of his male students to go on another trip with him. this timehe handed out permission forms for those students to attend a spring break trip to yosemite. shortly after the forms were handed out, he was arrested. all of this got the attention of parents who were inquiring about background checks. as it turns out, there was no such policy in place. charles ramsey west contra costa school dist. it happened because we did not review all the background check information and we should have. it's something i have spoken to the superintendant about and we have taken care of it. tonight we are codif

the kron 4 morning news starts right now. breaking news: police in austin have arrested the suspect drunk driver that ran through temporary barricades into a crowd at the south by southwest festival earlier this morning. so far, two people have been killed in the incident and 23 others were injured. the austin police chief says were on a mo-ped that the driver hit along with pedestrians who were leaving a club where a concert had been held. the man also struck a cab before jumping out of his car and trying to run from police. officers shocked him with a stun gun and took him into custody. one witness described the chaotic situation. emergency officials say most of the injuries were minor, but five to seven had more serious injuries. now to our developing news of the san francisco construction site fire. fire fighters have been staying at the scene all night to put out hotspots. investigators are looking into whether welding work is to blame for causing the fire. there's no official cause, partly because it's still too hot to

generous on kron 4 news. >>\ j.r.e kron 4 nils. >> hundreds of people gathered to remember a 14- year-old girl. who was hit and killed by a train in martinez. jenna betti's friends and family poured in to a pleasant hill church on friday for her funeral. jenna was struck sunday evening by a freight train. her mother. dena betti says, jenna was on the tracks with her boyfriend before the collision. she said, they saw the train coming. and got off the tracks. but jenna went back to get her cell phone. and that's when she was hit. >> the c-h-p say they believe two boys are responsible for the recent water bottle throwing incidents last month in the north bay. bottles were thrown at cars, trucks and buses traveling at high speeds in the sebastopol and santa rosa areas. the c-h-p says as many as ten vehicles were hit. including two school buses. a bottle even shattered a bus windsheild, injuring the driver. the incidents stopped when c-h-p released a photograph of the pickup truck involved. no arrests have been made yet. a
