ktvu's katy eustis was in court. why are they speaking out now? >> reporter: they spoke out in support of the young boy, showing of love for him. we are not identifying the family to protect the victim but they spoke out about the abuse and led to the investigation that likely helped other children. >> we just want to make sure he gets the justice he deserve. >> this man gave a voy to young -- voice to young boys abused by his teacher. ron guinto in court. the teacher accused of molesting students. those unusual field trips are what tipped the family off. >> went somewhere else instead. it was surprising. that is when it started and we were shocked. >> phone call from another student in november made them contact officials. >> we put the phone on speaker. >> police arrested ron guinto in his classroom last month, now he faces 27 charges. his attorney asked the judge for more time to review the extensive evidence. >> young man comes from a good family. no prior record so we are optimistic some of our investigation can show they did not happen. >> w

rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> a bizarre situation at the dmv in san jose. a driver crashed into the building. and what happened next forced authorities to tell everyone to evacuate. ktvu's robert handa is at the dmv where we spoke to the driver about why she was so nervous while waiting in line. robert? >> reporter: she showed up at a busy dmv office but the office has been closed almost all day because of the driver's test that ended before it got started. >> reporter: the smashed up front end of this car indicates the driver didn't do to well today. the car was one of several vehicles in line at the dmv office to start the test at noon when the driver accelerated into a motorcycle rider and crashed into the building, hit a gas meter and severed a gas line. the motorcycle rider noticed the woman was jittery. >> didn't see much. came from behind. by the time i looked up gas was hissing and people came out of the car. seemed to be okay. and i got off the ground. >> the san jose fire department evacuated the building and several others nearby. pg&e was able t

the fire chief tells ktvu it was accidental. the fire chief says a man in one of the units was a heavy smoker and was drinking when the fire broke out after 1:00. the man had to be airlifted to the hospital. as for the building, two units were badly damaged. >>> freight train hit a suv willing the woman driving it around 9:00 along east central avenue. witnesses told police that she drove her suv over the curve and on to the tracks. as they reconstructed events based on this surveillance video investigators conclude she side swiped a car, ran into two dead end streets and ending up on the tracks. the train was going 45 miles per hour when it hit the suv. police say it appears that she was trying to escape in the seconds before the collision. >> looks like her wheels were spinning spinning. >> police -- spinning. >> police are waiting to see if drugs or alcohol were involved. f new at 6 -- >>> new at 6:00 p.m. san francisco bay, tiny clams are a sign of things to come because they are thriving and that is bad news for the bay. kt

ktvu first brought you this story as breaking news at 5:00. the incident led to a school lock down on the campus. jana katsuyama comets our coverage including new details of the man who allegedly touched the girl unappropriately -- jana katsuyama continues our coverage. >> reporter: it seems they have been interviewing that 7-year- old girl and have a general description of the attacker. tonight police tell us that they are very upset because the school did not tell them about the incident. there was confusion, concerning. pardons wait outside of the school. >> nobody can go in, nobody can go out. >> reporter: at 4:30 p.m., police had lined the street. officers told ktvu that a boy and girl encountered a stranger. the boys said he committed a sexual assault on at least one of the girls. officers searched the building, the grounds and surrounding neighborhood but did not find the man. about 5:00 the lock down ended a relief to parents picking up children who had been in darkened classrooms, some very scared. >> we were in the class classroom an

ktvu's jana katsuyama will detail the fbi's case. we begin with amber lee. she asked leyland yee's attorney about the charges. >> reporter: frank, we're in the sunset neighborhood where the state senator lives. we came to the home behind me, he did not answer his door, but we did catch up with him as he left the federal courthouse earlier tonight. >> senator, can you tell me what the reaction is to your arrest? >> reporter: dressed casually in a blue jacket, the state senator walked out of the federal building on $500,000 bond. he got into a waiting car without answering any questions. but there are many questions about the multiple charges he now faces. yee, who advocated for gun control laws, now faces conspiracy of trafficking firearms, illegally importing them, and bribery. >> we haven't had a chance to really read it from front to back. we'll defer any comments. >> reporter: he wasdriven to first of all court, where he spent ten hours odd. according to court documents, he tried to dig himself out of a $70,000 debt incurred for losing the race for mayor.

ktvu's mike mibach obtained the report. mike is live in oakland after speaking with the family attorney about the findings. >> reporter: that's right. he is down in los angeles on business. i spoke to him on the phone and he said the results are nothing but doctors protecting doctors. >> save our babies. >> reporter: december 9, 2013. 13-year-old jahi mcmath treated at children's hospital for sleep apnea. after surgery doctors declare her brain dead. on january 7 the state launched a probe of the hospital and its handling of patients. this is the result. in a later it states california department of public health determined children's hospital was in compliance. it does not state jahi mcmath's name. the cases selected for review, one deficiency was found regarding operating room policies, the mishandling of records. the attorney for jahi mcmath's family said the family feel betrayed by the medical profession. the family said that is why we have courts, lawyers and jurtease examine the conducts of doctors -- juries to examin

ktvu first brought you this story as breaking news at 5:00. the incident led to a school lock down on the campus. jana katsuyama comets our coverage including new details of the man who allegedly touched the girl unappropriately -- jana katsuyama continues our coverage. >> reporter: it seems they have been interviewing that 7-year- old girl and have a general description of the attacker. tonight police tell us that they are very upset because the school did not tell them about the incident. there was confusion, concerning. pardons wait outside of the school. >> nobody can go in, nobody can go out. >> reporter: at 4:30 p.m., police had lined the street. officers told ktvu that a boy and girl encountered a stranger. the boys said he committed a sexual assault on at least one of the girls. officers searched the building, the grounds and surrounding neighborhood but did not find the man. about 5:00 the lock down ended a relief to parents picking up children who had been in darkened classrooms, some very scared. >> we were in the class classroom an
