ktvu's alex savidge live in napa now.ave video of this undercover operation. >> reporter: good morning. after a disaster like the napa earthquake in august, unlicensed contractors tend to come out of the woodwork. there have been a lot of unsuspecting homeowners who have been ripped off. that's why state authorities crack down on workers trying to operate under the table. what you are looking at is hidden camera video from an undercover sting operation that was carried out this week by the contractors' state license board working in conjunction with the napa county district attorney's office. authorities invited unlicensed contractors to this particular house that has earthquake damage and they asked those workers for repair equipments. ever since the 6.0 earthquake in late august, a lot of people have fallen victim to contractors working under the table and homeowners who hire these crews risk losing their money and they are also liable if a worker is injured on their property according to state authorities. during this

. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. >> good evening. i am ken pritchett. >> hello, i am heather holmes. new develops surrounding a officer involved shooting. a man took police on a high- speed chase through san leandro according to investigators. the investigators came to a stop in a quit neighborhood and the officer fired shots but the suspect took off. ktvu's cristina rendon joins us live with details on the search that is underway for the suspect. >> reporter: police have been searching and tracking down leads all day. some leads took them to other parts of the bay area but police are not saying much. at this hour no word of an arrest yet but a neighborhood that has been left a little shaken. >> high-speed chase made a stop in this peaceful neighborhood around 4:30 a.m. this morning. the sound of sirens, a crashing car and gun shots were wake up calls for residents. >> i heard pop, pop, pop, pop. four shots. the sirens kept going and it stopped. >> it was unnerving to have something so close. >> reporter: what they heard was

new information tonight from ktvu's patti lee, what's the latest on the investigation tonight? >> reporter: the campus police sent it to the city and berkeley police in the afternoon, sitting with the victims of some of the alleged assaults. the delta cappa ep si lom is quiet tonight, five people given a date rape drug and sexually assaulted, one person coming forward. no comment from the fraternity leadership, but outside members of this group scoffed at the allegations. >> you think it's great that you guys are reporting your time on something that hasn't been dealt with yet. >> reporter: a second alert came from a fraternity member. he claims he'd been sexually assaulted by another fraternity member, and that there may be more victims. >> we encourage all people to come forward, any victims, absolutely come forward or witnesses of that matter, anybody, if you've witnessed a crime or made a victim of a crime, we're going to take that seriously and take a report. >> reporter: uc berkeley also scrutinized for its handling of allegations, two audits on the way. >> and see what's

ktvu's david stevenson is on the scene. he joins us now by phone. so david, what else have you learned about the situation there? >> reporter: well, tori, the location is la bu na and fulton. the -- laguna and fulton. there were originally reports that one of the driskers was ejected. that's not the case. the collision seems to involve a red toyota corolla and a camry with an uber sign in the window. police are arriving on the scene. they are still investigating talking to witnesses. but apparently the two cars collided. i saw the female driver of the red corolla laid out in the stretcher wrapped up in blanket and a neck brace as firefighters brought her to the ambulance. a very confusing scene. both victims have taken from the scene. there were reports a pedestrian was hit. that does not appear to be the case. police are on the scene talking to other vehicles to find out if they saw what happened here. at this point, the injured have been taken away. traffic is routed down laguna street and traffic in fulton is blocked off as police takes picture,

ktvu brian flores is headed to the scene.heck in with him in a little bit. >>> time is 5:43. a wild fire burning in the sierra foothills. this one threatening 1,000 homes. the so-called a gate fire is burning in the apple gate area. now so far ten buildings have been destroyed including six homes. it started wednesday. it's burned 420 acres. it's only 25% contained. it broke out in seven different places and then it all came together into one big wild fire. the fire crews are worried it may reach the american river canyon. investigators are looking into the possibility that someone started this fire either by accident or intentionally. >>> yosemite park rangers believe a fire burning in the park it was probably started by sparks from a car. it started on tuesday. it has burned 245 acres near highway 140. at this point it's only 10% contained. craig hunt a 62-year-old pilot died on tuesday when the air tanker he was flying helped put out the flames crashed. >>> the mountain lion that caused a tense scene in mountain view five
