the firefighters are on their way to l.a.e summer. >> what is the big picture across the state of california? >> reporter: the two wildfires north of l.a. are a big problem. that's where everything is going right now. they exploded yesterday. it is now being called the san gabriel complex file. it has burned 5400 acres in less than 24 hours. you can see how happy it is with these conditions. it is chewing up huge chunks of 30-year-old dry brush. a fire like this really cannot be stopped. it can be redirected. an l.a. fire last night attacked it aggressively. flying at night, which is very unusual and highly dangerous using infrared and nice vision to drop the retardant and protect homes. the good news is, weather is improving. number two, the winds have shifted. they are now onshore. they are blowing the flames away from homes. that's the way it is now. it is going to be a little while before they get a handle on those two. the triple digit temperatures in california met lots of folks who were cranking up their air conditions
