as you head deeper into the santa cruz mountains, flooding is possible especially near la honda until about 1:30. here is a look at live doppler 7. you can see the best radar returns are ringing the south bay from about highway 92 all the way around. with this light rain falling right now we're still having issues with flooding. as we move through my pm planner, heaviest rain will be at 2:00. lightest intensify at 4:00 and light rain at 6:00 and 8:00. that will keep things wet and hopefully not the hydroplaning and the incidents we saw this morning. >> just hoping it starts to get easier. at ours worst point we were up to 150 incidents. we've got plenty of trouble spots. i want to take you back to westbound 37. that's closed once again due to flooding. you're having to divert off. we have chp helping with that. we have flooding with a couple of lanes closed here. we just got a big new issue in for highway 17, santa cruz mountains. this is exactly the same place where we had the big slide a few weeks ago that hit our own news van. all lanes are closed now. you're being forced off at gr

reporting live in la honda, i'm chuck coppola, bay area news. >>> traffic is moving once again, but there are still slowdowns this evening. marianne favro is at highway 17 with the latest on that. >> reporter: chuck, you can see here traffic is moving fairly smoothly right now, but the major reason for the slowdowns is this mudslide you see here behind me. traffic has been reduced to one lane in both the north and southbound directions. that means that at least 20 to 30 minutes to your trip from los gatos to santa cruz will be added. while traffic is moving slowly at times, business owners are glad to see that at least cars can get through now, especially the owner of the summit house beer garden and grill. >> the traffic is very slow today. usually the cars coming by, it's just real consistent, a lot of people stopping. we're down to about half the business that we generally do. >> reporter: she says business is still half of what it normally is on a sunday. the big question now is how these lane closures will impact commuter traffic tomorrow. many people spent two hours taking an altern

westbound lanes of highway 84 in the la honda area just reopened.ons of mud and debris block that area. crews worked all day to shore up the hillside. and they are still trying to clear the eastbound lanes. >>> crews are scrambling to fix a massive hole in one of the state's largest dams. that was left behind from raging flood waters. steve large shows us the damage at the oroville dam. >> this is not normal. >> reporter: as concrete broke off the spill way, the water gushing sent the giant chunks flying some 40 feet in the air. >> big cement just blew off. it is getting worse. >> reporter: this is what was left. a gaping hole, 180 feet wide. 30 feet deep. forcing the department of water resources to close the oroville dam gates for now, even as water continues rising in the reservoir. >> the most important thing to say about this problem with the spill way is the dam itself is not in danger. >>> teams of engineers are only starting to investigate what went wrong. >> maybe it was a soft spot under the spill way that was not known about. that could h

hope visited this tightknit la honda community today.. congresswoman anna eshoo and state senator jerry hill joined by other county officials showed up to see the damage for themselvessot rep. anna eshoo over again. at least 17 people are without a home this morning following two fires in oakland. the first fire happened around noon yesterday at 2909 35th avenue. oakland firefighters initially tweeted that people were trapped inside the house. the second fire happened around 5:02 last night at 1520 24th avenue. it burned part of a two story home. children and adults are both displaced. no one was injured in either fire. a 70-year old woman is in the hospital this morning after being thrown 50 feet by a hit and run driver in petaluma. it happened just before 7:30 saturday night at the intersection of south mcdowell boulevard and caufield lane. police say she is now in the hospital with possible life threatening injuries. witnesses say the woman was crossing against a red signal when she was hit by a van. the driver of the van was last seen
