we welcome back laguna beach city councilman peter blake to tell us what happened.now you had a long night. patriotism prevailed. what happened? >> we went to the city council meeting with the best hopes. one of the most liberal states in the country, i would like to say it was expected but it was unexpected. the room was overwhelmed with an energy, people were there. and in this flag. that we were very nervous to keep this flag on our police, the flag could then be heard in terms of other states in the country where people might decide they didn't like the flag, they didn't like the pledge of allegiance, didn't want a fourth of july parade or patriot day parade and it was on me but by the time things started going the energy was so overwhelming that you couldn't help but think this would go our way. it finally did, there was an incredible relief. heather: i want to talk about that and the energy in the room. residents standing up and singing the star-spangled banner. ♪ that our flag was still there ♪ oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave ♪ heather: that is
