we're still at the corner of lamar and ross in the west end of dallas.ed part of downtown dallas, but for those who are natives here, for those who live here, the shots of gunfire at such rapid succession is unheard of in this neighborhood, unheard of in this community. then to only find out that five officers have been killed in this deadly rage. it followed what was a peaceful protest on the streets of dallas. if you look on social media, you saw photos of demonstrators side by side with police officers, with smiles on their faces. no one could have predicted a sniper would have fired down on officers, targeting men and women in uniform. 11 hit in all. 11 officers hit in all. one civilian, as you mentioned earlier. the scene has become quieter here, as we enter an investigation stage. though, we've seen helicopters flying above, we heard flash bangs or some type of explosive sound earlier this morning. we also have seen a number of fire engines and police cars speeding away from the scene. those streets are blocked off in this dallas neighborhood right

right on corner of lamar and ross.st end of dallas, a wonderful community, a mix of new and old. and now the scene of terror. the dallas morning news calling this an ambush. police saying that these suspects wanted to target police officers and they did. four officers killed. you've heard us reporting this all evening long. what we've heard from the latest news conference is there are now three people in custody. there was a woman found around the area of el centro college's garage. this is where all the violence really went down, that garage was where at least one, maybe two of the snipers began firing down at officers. we have two men in custody. and there is one person currently in negotiations with police. but we're told he's been uncooperative. we're told there's still an exchange of gunfire and there have been shouts from that suspect that the end is coming, and that there are bombs planted all throughout downtown dallas. though police are saying there is no confirmation there is any truth to that. this is still

so we're on lamar street. and wood street as well. lamar is going to go where you're looking now, the bank of america building. and of course you're going to want to stay away really from anywhere down here. as i said when we arrived within a half mile, it took us 30 minutes to get around all those blocks. it's well advised to not come anywhere near this area. and we would suspect that as the dallas mayor suggested, that some of those who will although who should be coming here in the morning, we think that -- and we think those plans, because this is not going to change for many hours. and as far as -- as far as the activity here, i'm not sure what activity there would be beyond, of course at 5, 6, 7:00, usually having a lot of people coming in. you can only imagine there will be many, many people who haven't checked their phones or haven't turned on the news who will be shocked to find that there is a massive investigation that has locked down much of downtown dallas, and will then have to learn the tragedy of what happened. so as t
