larry summers, janet yellen. larry summers warned you could spike inflation. how big a risk is that for you and what does it do to the dollar? good morning. >> good morning. i think this is a really interesting debate. i think it is one that economists have been having for years really since the global financial crisis. we did see some of the crude measures, quantitative easing, etc., really bringing in the debate about asset price inflation, intergenerational wealth inequality. one of the issues we have now with a lot of the policy stimulus is many people may have more money if you kept your job, particularly if you cut a stimulus check. the savings ratios go significantly higher in countries such as the u.s. and also elsewhere. they have come down off their peaks. one of the problems is that consumers may have the extra money but they can't spend when they restaurants or shops are closed and they cannot go on holiday, for instance. what you need to do is protect the economy longer term. take businesses that could otherwise go under. this is not a normal keyn

>> well, on this issue i strongly disagree with larry. and i actually think that what he said is inconsistent with a lot of his recent writing that made the case for going big fiscally and not worrying as much about somewhat higher deficits when interest rates are so historically low. let me put in more real terms why the risks are -- why i think larry is wrong. it's not just -- it's partly what the president said so eloquently, this is about peoples lives, it's about long-term employment, it's about evictions, it's about real suffering. it also is about risk. and what we learned from 2009, i think we learned from the past, is you have to have enough fire power not just to encourage recovery but to get all the way to full employment. that, number two, you have to take into account that things could be worse than you think. look at today's job number. that suggests the unemployment rates we're hearing are wrong. there's much more pain. we're still 9.9 million jobs behind. we have over 4 million people who have dropped out of the labor forc

so the main character of the book is larry gordon the negotiator. he's interesting because he is one of the few black officers on the dallas s.w.a.t. team. she's come to the job with a really his own complicated feelings about race and police he grew up in a core neighborhood that was overpoliced by cops. and he understands a lot of the concerns that people have with law enforcement and how policing is occurring in this country. so he's spent his whole career feeling as if he's straddling two worlds of cop and black man. the book is really a tick tech account of what happens that night. while it does focus heavily on the cops it also includes story of others who were impacted that night one of the main characters is a -- woman by the name of taylor she's a mother of four. who went down to show her son what a peaceful protest looks like she had felt compelled to speak out after the castile shooting so you get to know her story. another one of the main subjects is a trauma surgeon in the er park land hospital he's the only black trauma surgeon on staf

now, john geddert owned a gym in michigan where larry nassar had worked for many years and actually,e that took place at that gym. one of larry nassar�*s victims actually said that the two worked — said they have a symbiotic relationship, they were kind of good cop and bad cop and that they enabled each other�*s abuse. so they were very close and actually, one of the charges against geddert actually related to allegations that he'd lied to law enforcement about how much he had known about larry nassar�*s activities. what kind of reaction has there been to the news aboutjohn geddert? well, one of larry nassar�*s earliest known victims, the gymnast sarah klein, actually released a statement where she said this is traumatising beyond words, and i just want to read you some of what she said. she said, "he tortured and abused little girls, myself included, for more than 30 years." and she said that geddert was a narcissistic abuser. she's called his suicide an admission of guilt. now, of course, we don't know that, but what we do know is that his victims or his accusers certainly won't ge
