larry, brown is setting the table, it seems, with all this doomsday talk? >> let's take this one step at a time. first brown wants the voters to know what's going on, what's this it for them, with this budget deficit of $28 billion between now and june 30, 2012. the state says about 70% of that money goes to schools and things like that. that's money that will go away with this deficit. here's the story. brown's prepared to make draconian cuts in education, transportation, social welfare, higher education, programs that we would call big ticket items. to that he's thinking if we show people what they're going to get, you know what? maybe, mbe they'll be open to increase taxes. >> and what are the areas where the state spends most of its money and what might he cut out, larry? >> you can really get your hands on a pile of dough. you could easily put out another $5 billion or $6 billion if he's looking for that $25 billion. maybe state employees, they account for $10 billion in salaries. you reduce their salaries by 25%, and you save another $2.5 billion. you
