our latin america editor, lucy newman, joins us live now from costa rica capital a san jose. so 1st of all of this year, you are of course, in costa rica because foreign journalists are not being allowed into nicaragua for this election. so how do we know what's actually going on in the country? that's a very good question, but the nicaragua is very near to costa rica. in fact, we were by the border for several days. and we were with a lot of the people, some of whom are here now in the capitol hill, but crossed back and forth through in legal border passes. and they bring news of what's happening. we also do have people inside nicaragua, who are keeping us well informed. a lot of the nicaraguan journalist are here in costa rica. they've set up networks with their own people inside the country that are sending them information. and what we're hearing is that there was a very, very low turn out today during the elections. and that is consistent with an opposition called for people in nicaragua to stay home, not to vote in order to in their words, not legitimized, a fraud. the
