i )m laura garcia. and i )m marcus washington. let )s get straight to that breaking news you are waking up to. today in the bay )s pete suratos is at the scene in west oakland. pete -- what )s the latest ther. thanks pete >>> in fact we were going to show our viewers the big balls of flame this morning according to oakland fire, the information we're getting is the fire kicked out roughly around 2:00 a.m. at the corner of west grand and filbert. they believe this was a three-story apartment building that was under construction. it looked like they're at about 80% to 80% contained. still a big issue in this area. as far as who's affected we know about 20 to 25 people have been evacuated. currently 2,000 folks are without power. we'll continue to monitor it. it was quite a scene there with that fire taking place this morning. you could smell the smoke in the air. obviously it will be an issue during the morning commute, but we're going to continue to monitor this and have another update in the next hour. we're live in oakland. >>> g

i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. we'll have weather but we'll get to mike talking about traffic. >> we had a b.a.r.t. delay. let's get to the good news first. when b.a.r.t. has a delay at one station, they follow all the trains affected to the end of the run. this time it was antioch out of san francisco. like i had reported, we have now green status. no more delays reported. almost 50 trains. we still have row location to temporary transit center. minor delays in san francisco as a result of that. that will continue. fremont street won't even open until next week. we have that update as well. a smooth drive in towards san francisco. this is at the bay bridge because metering lights are on. there is a stall reported around treasure island. we'll wait for the bridge crew to get there and sort that out. we're looking for the rest of your bay and a smooth, easy drive. no problems for this clear view across the san mateo bridge. is it this clear everywhere? >> we are. we're starting out with nice weather. cool temperatur

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. right now we want to look at the forecast before you head out the door, head over to meteorologist kari hall with a look. >> as the sun rises this morning, we still see the drifts of smoke coming by, and you can probably smell it as well. we had a couple of brush fires that started yesterday afternoon. now as we take a live look outside in san jose, the air quality remains the big story today. moderate air quality everywhere except the north bay, because the winds are blowing in from the north, and those fires are just south of there, so we still do have the red flag warning that continues until 9:00. also the wind advisory still breezy out there. we had wind gusts over 55 miles per hour and some critically dry fuels so as you are headed out for schools in the south bay expect temperatures in the low 60s headed into the upper 70s. look ahead to the weekend coming up and mike, you're tracking that traffic alert in san francisco. >> i am not talking about the closure of fremont street.

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. marcus has the day off. kari has been watching the north bay winds. good morning. >> good morning, look at some of our highest wind gusts we've had? especially in the north bay and east bay hills with mt. st. helena reaching 72-mile-per-hour gusts, mt. diablo 62 mool per hour gusts. orinda 45 and about 37 in yountville and 35 in napa. now the winds are starting to calm down, but still breezy especially for parts of the north bay. winds coming in 15 to 25 miles per hour and the rest of the bay area seeing some lighter winds throughout the morning and that will continue to calm down as we go throughout the day. so that's the good news. we will see the red flag warning expiring as we head into tonight, and right now as we take a live look outside in the south bay, in campbell, we are going to have a chilly start, but warming up, some very warm temperature this is afternoon. we'll talk about the weekend coming up in a few minutes, and mike, a new crash near the maze? >> kari, i was watching this develop as i hea

laura garcia is off this morning. nice to see you this monday morning.ild out there, kari? >> not too bad. we've got the clouds rolling by. we start out with some cloudy skies. another look r look at downtown san jose, checking out our temperatures that will be in the 50s as you get ready to head out the door. we'll drop down to about 53 degrees around sunrise and start to warm things up as the skies clear. we're heading up to 73 today. it's going to be perfect out there, and in antioch reaching 76. 73 today in santa rosa.

. >> i'm laura garcia. you can see how strong the storm is, a great illustration as they were in the hotel room, you can see the winds whipping by. kari hall has been following it, as well. look at the radar behind you. >> yeah, this storm is just huge. and if it was just one mile stronger, it would have been a category 5 hurricane. so this very powerful as it moves into just to the east of panama city. and we're seeing some of those rain bands, the bright reds and orange showing some really intense rainfall along with that storm surge. so we will continue to follow this as it moves farther to the inland areas, and it will remain a category -- at least a 3 for quite a while throughout the afternoon. and then weakening to a category 1 storm. and then even as we see it just to the east of atlanta, it's still going to be a tropical storm as it races off towards the north and east over the next couple of days. so that wie'll continue to monitor. here at home, we are looking at some very calm and quiet condition
