i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. kris sanchez is live. we're at the beginning of fire season, kris. >> reporter: yeah, it's big enough you can see the fire from the highway and down below, and the fire is way up on that hillside behind us and that's part of the problem, san jose fire says they have to try and find a way to get into that fire because it's up on that hillside. the closest intersection i can give you is san philippe road, and not silver creek, but silver creek valley road. we do know that firefighters are trying to access that fire right now and we do know the brush is very dry right now especially after the spike in heat that we have seen. today is supposed to be a little cooler but hopefully the wind will cooperate. right now, very calm and it's absolutely still out here. let's send it over to vianey as we jump in our truck and try to get closer to the fire. >> kris, you are right, we had triple digit heat this weekend. there are three factors, hot temperatures, low humidity and wind factor. right now

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. we want to get straight to kris sanchez who is live out in san jose with the latest on this fire. kris, have they started to attack this fire at all? >> reporter: well, absolutely. you saw that glowing line of fire in the nighttime overnight hours, and now the sun is up and what we are seeing is the smoke. you are asking, marcus, if they are fighting the fire, and the answer is yes. we are here with some of the rigs at the base point of the entry point, but we have seen rigs going up the hillside on a dirt road, and crews are here from san jose fire and cal fire. at this point we know 20 acres are burned but the firefighting spokesperson said there's a potential for about 100 acres to burn, so that's a lot more. the good news is it's burning up a hillside that are uninhibited, and there are homes in this area but they seem to be safe. the wind picked up just a little bit before it was absolutely still but now we are feeling a little breeze now that the sun is coming up. vianey has bee

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. we want to get right to kris sanchez who is out there in southeast san jose with the latest of what is going on. kris? >> reporter: good morning to yo here and is neighborhood here in evergreen. we have seen a few of the trucks leaving them and a number of them have gone up a dirt road to get closer to the fire line which is a few miles off the roadway, and the closest intersection you might recognize is silver creek valley road and san felipe road. up where the fire is burning on the ridge, close to the ridge, not a lot of homes so no structures are threatened. we know it's bigger than 20 acres, and we don't know what the containment number at this point because the firefight is still ongoing and firefighters have told us there's a potential to hit about 100 acres. we have seen a bulldozer going up the hillside trying to create a fire break so we expect that will help this morning, and we also know that vianey arana and the rest of our team have been watching the fire conditions beca

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. mike is keeping an eye on what to expect in the commute. first we want to start with meteorologist kari hall because we have to talk about those very hot temperatures and could be dangerous for a lot of people, too. >>> yes, especially in the inland valleys and the north bay, the east bay, as well as the south county as we get a look at what you all know is my favorite part of the day, sun rise, looking for mt. diablo and it's such a nice, clear start to the day. we are going to see our temperatures in mountain view starting out in the low 60s and then quickly ramping up. it won't be as hot here but still warm this afternoon. 83 degrees. we see the microclimate where we will be between 100 degrees from morgan hill over to livermore, antioch and concord all the way up to ukiah. all of this will be replaced by much more comfortable temperatures. i'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you've been watching the morning commute. what's going on right now? >> we have a little build going
