i'm laura garcia-cannon. it is 6:00 right now, as we mentioned a lot going on this morning. a couple of fires, one let's start out with the east bay. it was an old victorian home. christie smith is live at the scene. the flames were engulfing the home. luckily a lot of the kids were out of town that lived there. tell us about it. >> reporter: that's the incredible part. when you look at the damage, looking at one side of the home on 23rd avenue. it's amazing that everyone made it out okay. this is a two-story victorian. the fire broke out, overnight, eight were inside, some sleeping as this was just before 2:00 in the morning. when firefighters arrived they say flames were pouring from the home here. but the residents were outside. there were working smoke detectors in the home. this home has two units, one up, one down stairs. because of the older construction it was a challenge to knock down these huge flames. here is what one captain told us. >> it looks like they may have overloaded electric circuits or electric issue. >> if they were running fans, it was hot? >> you kno
