our scott mcgrew breaking down the message he just delivered to the united nations on the state of the world. good morning, and thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. well, just into our newsroom, new reports of trouble on the runway at sfo. two people were hurt in a united flight from newark to sfo. according to the san francisco chronicle, it happened last week. united pilots had to take a drastic maneuver to avoid hitting another plane in the air. this is above wisconsin. we do not have details on the other plane involved, but we do know that one person was seriously hurt. another only had minor injuries. the flight did land safely at sfo. this is after the incident. we have reached out to united, but we have not heard back. statewide california communities now have more tools to combat dangerous and disruptive sideshows, but that could be especially true in san francisc, where supervisors might give police the power to sell people's cars and motorcycles. nbc bay area's kris sanchez joining us now from the newsroom with more. there is some urgency in giving san francisco police more power to crack down on the s

laura, on inflation. the fed raises rates when it's worried about inflation. it doesn't cut them. so it clearly thinks inflation is almost under control. all right. thank you very much scottose police arrested three men suspected of a violent machete attack back in june. police were led to the suspects because of some very graphic video of that beating and stabbing. one suspect was already known to police. nbc bay area's kris sanchez joins us live from san jose police headquarters, where investigators are preparing to give some more details. i understand in just moments, chris, i got great detail. so we just heard from the san jose police department. they say that this is really a miracle that this man survived this really violent assault. and they knew one of those suspects, one of the suspects served 13 years in prison for a homicide back in 2005. and as he and two other suspects were attacking this person on the ground, they their faces were visible in the surveillance video. we've blurred it out, but it is still graphic, so you can watch or turn away. now the victim is you can see in the video was punched. he was kicked. he was stabbed in the parking lot and slashed.

laura hunter biden will be sentenced in december. interesting to see how it's all played out. thank you very much, scott. it is 6.46 right now.rning, south bay celebrating a very big anniversary this weekend. the sap center hosting its 5,000th event today in the bay's kris sanchez out there for us this morning with a look back and a look ahead. good morning kris. oh, boy. i mean, i know that both of you have seen so many events here at the sap center. i know that i have events with my family, events with the little ones, events with my husband. and it really has been such a big part of the south bay community. in fact, a big part of the community for 31 years. and tonight the sap center is hosting its 5,000th event. and let's take a look at some of the history here. the sap center first opened its doors back 31 years ago, and in that time they've hosted 50 million visitors through for all different kinds of events. the 20 there's $20 million in annual tax revenue and that's just from the sharks, not from any of the other events that happened here. now the sharks are negotiating their ten year contract. so we're hoping that th

laura, that would not stand up in a newsroom. yeah. no kidding. just snowballed from there. all righ. thank you scott.ing right now in southern californi, firefighters battling an out of control fire that's believed to have been started by crews doing fire prevention work. it exploded in size yesterday afternoon in trabuco canyon near rancho santa margarita in orange county. and by last night it had burned close to 5500 acres. several neighborhoods are under evacuation orders. fortunately, at this point, cal fire does say the flames are burning in the general direction away from nearby homes. meteorologist kari hall of course, tracking those conditions down in southern california and heat has been a big concern. yeah. did you know that recently hit 119 in socal near la. i mean, the heat has been ridiculous. and so any flames just gets out of control and we are seeing so many fires burning. take a look at our near surface smoke model. i mean, the plumes of smoke coming up out of all of those fires from the line fire to also that fire that started yesterday near the san bernardino airport has been putti
