nbc 10 national correspondent leann gregg is live in the arapahoe county courthouse. >> what is the mood there today?dÑ >> reporter: it's a somber mood. family members have begun arriving at the courthouse waiting for the verdict to be read. the jury deliberated for a day and a half. they heard nearly three months of testimony. that decision whether james holmes was sane at the time he committed the crime. he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. his attorneys claimed he was incapable of knowing right from wrong, that he had delusions and gaining self-worth by killing people. the prosecution argued he was legally sane pointing to the meticulous planning for months including a notebook with diagrams and scribblings that outlined his violent plan. the jury asked no questions today and only a few questions yesterday, including a request for an index to help them more easily access evidence. the judge denied that request. if the verdict is guilty sentencing phase would begin to determine if he would spend the rest of his life in prison or be sentenced to death. if they find him not guilt
