i have seen marines out of the military prison -- i have seen them in leavenworth dying in solitary confinement. marines. because they got aids or hepatitis c. convert visn's into what i call residential treatment centers. -- convert prisons. knock down the gun towers. take down the razor wires. inspired the corrections officers, the people with badges that make $150,000 a year -- inspire their asses. [applause] i am all for the union. i do not like their union. what you do is you rehire people back as correctional workers. what happens is in a state of california, where somebody needs help because they contradict or alcoholic or have a bad temper and they are going to be of their wife or sexually assault her stepdaughter -- whatever their problem is, let's do something about crime before they commit the crimes. they have this urge to do something illegal. they call the police and say, "i need help. i'm drug addicted. an alcoholic. please help me." right? they are directed to this treatment center where they can voluntary commit themselves for three to six months. they will do a workshop -- wor

october 17 at the parlor, 2801 leavenworth, a suspect, or actually one of the patrons, a lady was dancing on the dance floor, somebody knocked into her. spilled her drink, and came back with a new drink and then she felt like it had been drugged so she was wondering when the person went to go get the drink that they put something m it. so they made a report on that. and the incident at 561 gary street as far as a female patron felt like somebody approximate had -- had put something in her drink as well. and at show girls a patron got into a verbal fight with the doorman. the doorman went inside and all of a sudden somebody came from the inside and got in a fight and weat -- beat him up. i don't know if there is any correlation between the doorman and this person. and the last is named powa. october 21, around 11:00. the impala security pointed out a car that was going at a high rate of speed at broadway and kearney streets, blowing through all the red lights and almost running people down. security was able to point out the car and the officers were able santo go make the arrest. another

leadership 904 united states army before he passed away from cancer at age 39 while serving at fort leavenworthent a lot of time talking and learning about the vietnam war from him. my wife's sister was in the army for 10 years, retired as a captain, and her son, my nephew, just returned from afghanistan, an infantryman. i did not serve myself but i am especially proud of my family members to have. in the early 1980's, i have the honor of directing a play in chicago that was written by a group of vietnam war veterans based on their experiences during that war. the time spent with these veterans along with my wife's two brothers and another brother in law was a medic in vietnam, left a lasting impression on me. i have committed my time and energy to veterans ever since. in 1993, i had the distinct honor of portraying a disabled vietnam veteran on screen. having spent so much time with veterans, i felt i was well prepared and eager to play the role of lt. dan in the film "forrest gump." such moments are rare for an actor. playing this role changed me and educated me about the strength and charact
