to ledge to ledge, down through cracks and narrows, chimneys leading down step by step. until you get to this arch. it's a small arch, it's only about this tall. the photograph is a little -- well, size, scale dimension, they all kind of leave out there. right inside of this arch way there is a bunch of broken pottery so you know this was a used route a thousand years ago. and the arch leads down into a canyon that opens up and you go up a side canyon into this little alcove where a piece of the ceiling has fallen just slightly. and i found this place. the first time i found this was on the 27th day of a back pack and i got up to this spot and i took my hat off and i stuck my head in the crack, which is something that i do frequently out there, because i know every once in a while you're going it see something back inside one of these cracks. and back in this crack there was a basket about 1500 years old that had been turned upside down so it wouldn't collect anything and it was way back down in the crack so that no light or wind would touch it. and it was in perfect con

they aren't always a ceramic vessel under a ledge. sometimes they are huge. sometimes they are 3-story dwellings built up into the cracks. they are buildings that they made in the 11th century ad, that the anastasi, the pueblo people made, that a base 5 stories tall. they built at least 400 miles of roads are documented in the four corners area. when i'm saying roads, i'm saying swaugts cut across the desert that are 30 feet wide that have berms about this high on both sides and run absolutely straight. and if they hit a landmark of some sort, they don't around it, they go up and over it or they go down a cliff and when you are on one of these roads and you get to the edge of a cliff, you can see that it's easier to go down maybe 20 feet over to your left, but they go right down the cliff. and you look down the cliff and there are stairs carved into the cliff face so that this road stays absolutely straight. my take on this is that out in the desert, the ultimate commodity besides water is visibility. and if

this is trailing ledge -- legislation we are following up to an order nabs passed in april. in the process of having spirited discussions around what it means to revitalize mid market and the tenderloin, we worked a lot with constituents and residents that had concern about the tax exclusion. working with them we wrote this legislation to establish a citizen advisory committee for the mid market tenderloin tax exclusionary. this committee will have representation from the senior commue, neighborhood residents, affordable housing community, community based organizations, small business community and people who have experience in job creation. it will be an 11-member body, all appointed by the board of supervisors. we took into account feedback we got at rule committee meetings from supervisor farrell and elsbernd. this committee will help us to shape policies around this area that promote job growth without displacing residents. and also we will be working with the city administrators to craft community benefits agreements with those companies that move in and have a payroll

here in the united states tonight, there are morale ledged instances of what authorities call home grown terrorism. two men have been picked up in seattle after buying machine guns they intended to use in an attack on a military processing center. cnn's homeland security correspondent jeanne meserve is here with the latest. >> this is one of a series of stories we've heard on attacks at military centers. one man from seattle, a former prison inmate and another man of los angeles. apparently when they tried to recruit a third individual to this alleged plot, he went to the authorities. and at that point law enforcement was able to monitor the plot as it developed. here is a bit of sound from a press conference with authorities a short time ago. >> the men were captured on audio and videotape discussing the attack. law enforcement monitored the suspect's actions, including a weapons transaction where they acquired automatic weapons. unknown to the suspects, the weapons they acquired had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement ahead of time and they posed no risk to the public. >> court
