in the beginning we are mostly say in single leg amputees, patients with us their legs below the knees, but as the wars that went on injuries began to get worse and worse. we began to see more and more double and triple amputees. those are soldiers who have lost two or three limbs. we watched as the amputations began to move up the body. they went from being below the knees and below the elbow to above the knees at the thigh to a ball of the elbow at the arm and armpit. we began to get soldiers back who are losing their legs at the groin. we even began to see partial pelvic amputations. by the time walter he closed in 2011 we had almost all of our patients coming in on the medevac's at that that time were either double or triple amputees, we had rehabilitated at that .3 men who had lost all four of their limbs. i was lucky because i had stumbled into this hobby that forced me to look for the funny lining in life. all of my coworkers who made it through those reset walter reed did something we did in the evenings, whether it was obsessively baking pancakes were training for 100-mile run
