garrett, can you bring us up to speed about this new reporting from you and leigh ann caldwell about the future of police reform such that it exists on the hill now? >> it doesn't exist the hill, is the bottom line. talks between cory booker, tim scott, karen bass, to try to come to some bipartisan agreement on some kind of police reform legislation that could pass both chambers, have collapsed. bass and booker have spoken to reporters. they said they decided to pull out of these talks after it was clear they couldn't get to yes with tim scott and republicans. bass told me she would like to see the president take further action on this issue. and booker says he's not going to stop trying. and geoff, this speaks to, again, the challenges of trying to work with these really narrow majorities and how important this reconciliation effort is because on all the issues in which democrats have tried to negotiate with republicans, police reform, guns, voting rights, they have got nowhere. the other alternative is to do what you can with just your party through reconciliation. and we'll see wh
