the jury is going to consider and recommend to the judge an actual punishment and right now lexi love, yeardley's sister is on the stand talking. i will tell you, i ran into her here at the courthouse and it's a little bit like seeing a ghost. she looks exactly like her sister. so i wanted to ask debra what she thought the impact of this kind of victim testimony might be and on the other hand, how were the jurors going to take george huguely's father who apparently has had a substance abuse problem himself, has a history of driving while intoxicated and so forth and apparently they have had this broken relationship. he got divorced a long time ago. george huguely grew up under those circumstances. some financial trouble despite coming from this wealthy family. what impact are those statements on either side going to have, debra, on the jurors do you think? >> the jury weighs both sides of the equation. they are going to weigh what yeardley love's sister said, which is going to be very compelling. she lost her sister. her family lost a daughter. it's also going to be very compelling as

lexy love, her sister was the second witness to testify. there was testimony. the prosecution seems to be using them to set up their case. really, we learned much more this morning in the opening statement from the prosecutor who talked about the night that yeardley love died, talking about george huguely going to her apartment and assaulting her. he talked about the evidence of the jurors weerl' -- we'll see, including photos. he talked about a video interview that charlottesville police held with huguely. we will be seeing that at some point in the trial. there will be a lot of evidence. he talked about the turbulence in their relationship. he said george huguely had been drinking heavily the entire day leading up to the murder. the precipitation ending with this admonishment north jury -- for the jury. it deteriorated ultimately with him killing her. then it was the defense' turn. the attorney for george huguely told the jury this was a shattering tragedy for the love family. he said when you hear the whole story, he said it's much different. the defense wil

sharon love and lexi love. that's yeardley's mother and yeardley's sister and they were very, very emotional. calling the loss of yeardley unbearable, a shock to the system. they said there are times when songs come on the radio that remind them of yeardley and break down into tears and the loss has been devastating for them. they did release a statement. we were told to hold that until after the sentencing. there is a podium set up over here. we anticipate that perhaps someone may come out. there is a gag order. we don't know if the judge is going to lift it. we don't know if we'll hear from the prosecution or the defense. but at this point, we are waiting to see if someone will come out. we are also, of course; going to try to talk to some of the jurors as they leave. at this point, to recap, 25 years in prison is the recommended sentence for the murder of yeardley love and one year for the grand larceny. brian. >> a couple questions. i think what a lot of people would wonder, the truth in sentencing here. 26

but there were tears on the witness stand when victim yeardley love's sister, lexie you and mother, sharon, both testified about the terrible morning of may 3, 2010, when they learned yeardley was dead. her on again, off again boyfriend george huguely was arrested that day accused of breaking into love's bedroom in a drunken rage and shaking her violently, hitting her head against the wall. the roommate and fellow lacrosse player who found her dead, katie whitely, testified that huguely and love's relationship had grown increasingly rocky that spring when both discovered the other had been unfaithful. love's other roommate and lacrosse teammate caitlin duff also testified she says just days before her death, love showed her an angry e-mail from huguely, chastising her about another boyfriend and writing "i should have killed you." but in his opening statement earlier, huguely's defense attorney said that e-mail was just an example of the drama between the two. don't think this was any kind of threat, she showed it to all her friends. he wanted to talk, to make up to work things out. the de
