it's disproportionately impacting a number of communities including the lgbt community. just wondering if you have any thoughts in terms of what else we can be doing to address that issue? >> i think it's the most important we issue we face and we need to take an unconventional approach. i saw the with mecca and basing ger after i was nominated. we talked about different ideas and we talked about, you know, people that use the system in bad faith. i honestly think that i do appreciate and understand the fact that people who rent out their homes or own apartments or small property owners orlando lord's, they are running a business. when people buy a business and shut it down by ellis acting people, it's a terrible idea. when hershey came in to buy smith, my favor chocolate store. they closed it. they are out of business. bad faith. i haven't had a hershey since. on the cac monday, i had some thoughts on this. our fees are frozen in time. we negotiated these fees five 5 years ago. there has been a wind fall on the other side. i think sometimes the community benefit fees th

i know that doss really did a great job staffing the lgbt aging task force, tom noland and that task force produced a terrific report. >> yes. >> we are moving forward, legislatively with a few recommendations now. some of the recommendations of course dealing with different kinds of funding issues, and i'm wondering and i know it came out sort of in the middle of the department's project, but does the department -- how do you intend to interact with that report to make sure it's being considered during the doss process. >> we kept very aware of what was -- what the discussion was and what the recommendations looked to be, and chris noland is in our office so that was helpful. there was three areas that i think we have focused on. one is the -- that was one of the places that we saw. there was a lot of conversation about how our folks who are in -- from the lgbt community, how do they thrive in institutional care and how can it be helpful. we believe the funding that we have put into our budget would be helpful. it's also -- we've got a contrast going forward in this budget cycle, so

she's a really pilar in the lgbt community in general. but i really want to put in a strong word of support for dennis richards for the planning commission. dennis is someone who i have worked very closely with long before i was on the board of supervisors, when i was the president of the neighborhood association and he was the president of the triangle neighborhood association. the neighborhood association's in upper market have always worked very closely together and it was always such a pleasure working with dennis in that capacity and going onto the board of supervisors and colleagues as you know we rely on the leadership of those situations in working with our neighborhoods. dennis is someone who for many many years has been involved in pretty much every issue of significance in the castro upper market area and the market octavia plan area. he is someone who has very strong core values and strong convictions. we don't agree on everything, but when we do disagree, it's in a very thoughtful and respectful way. i would also say having w
