. >> you can hear, we missed the top of your conversation with senator lindsey graham there. we did hear him say right now that the president's treatment of the attorney general, jeff sessions, portrays weakness. what did he say to you at the beginning? >> yeah, that's right. you really came in as we started talking about he was asked initially about the president's new policy about transgender individuals serving in the military. he punted on that. said he wants to hear more about it. but he had some very strong words about jeff sessions. he is a defender of jeff sessions as attorney general and does not like the way the president has been treating him publically. yesterday, lindsey graham put out the statement defending sessions and here i asked him about the recent attacks against jeff sessions. today's most recent tweet saying he should have fired andy mccabe as acting fbi director. lindsey graham was pretty -- taken aback by it and said very bluntly the president is showing weakness in his handling of the sessions situation. very clearly, a lot of support on capitol hill

lindsey graham, republican center who on the russia issue has been very tough on president trump, andwas beyond exasperateed this morning when on the tweets and what he said and the fact that he wouldn't accept the premise he said, clearly has a blind spot. lindsey graham says i like what he's doing on north korea, all these different issues, but on point, he's got a blind some point and he's called himself a test case. he said at some point it will become his inability to accept the premise of what russia did and could cause him and others to support the president's agenda on other items even if they agree with it. that's what he's risking here with what he's done with putin. >> i wanted to ask you that because when we look at the tweets this morning and a the president saying he did press the russian president on this, he did not say, and he has not come out and said and recognized that russia has interfered in the election. he stopped short of doing that. what is it the significance of this? i know that you spoke with former cia director john brennan. >> oh, he did. he was very cri

lindsey graham, who i know has had a good relationship with the president over the course of the last several months, said in very strong language said it's the president tries to nudge sessions out or fire sessions, we are not going to move forward with any effort to replace him. grassley said the same thing. they're putting it on the record as saying he is your attorney general, mr. president, and if you try to sneak another way around that, we will block you at every turn. in fact, lindsey graham use the language that it what you eat the end of the trump presidency. >> i think senator graham has a pretty heavy lift and he should probably stay focused on his job and getting some of the things done in health care and not worry so much about other peopl people. he's got a big job to do tonight, and hopefully he gets it done. >> martha: would you say to the senators tonight, it appears that jeff sessions job is safe? what messages the president saying with regard to jeff sessions right now, because there's been a lot of back-and-forth about, he serves at the pleasure of the president,

lindsey graham and kassidy have been working to craft a gop alternative. the health care bill is something we have the first details on right here. first the gist is, it would keep federal taxes on wealthy americans in place and block grant the money to states. graham and kassidy, who have been working closely with rick santorum argue that one of the main reasons republicans are having a hard time agreeing on a health care replacement bill is because they are working from the obamacare template. another big problem with the senate republican bill unveiled is it gives a tax cut to wealthy americans and makes cuts to medicaid which helps many afford health insurance. the key to whether or not this new alternative will work is whether they can get buy in from republican governs. that is the focus. many republican governors feel their states and constituents benefited from obamacare. many of them have a lot of sway with pivot ol gop senators. the hope among graham and kassidy is that this is, you know, politically probably a hail mary. policy wise, they argue
