liz: yeah. i want to talk about the one trend of spacs because we have spencer rathcof coming up, he just launched a spac on the nasdaq in particular. the numbers are pretty stunning. nasdaq saw 55 spacs go public with more than $12 billion raised during the quarter. what do you make of the rise of this and how do you vet these special acquisition companies? >> sure. well, normally, i'm proud of all the companies that come and list on nasdaq. in fact, we have had 137 operating companies list on nasdaq so far this year, and that really looks at essentially, it's an 80% win rate across all of the operating companies coming to the market. we also have a really wonderful collection of spacs that have come to the market and listed on nasdaq. as you just mentioned, including on spencer's spac. so the spac world today is really coming into its own. it's kind of maturing because of the fact more and more really high quality managers are coming out and choosing to raise capital in the public market and t

liz? liz: hillary, thank you. we watch all of these developments, i need to pivot to a rather stunning turnaround at this hour of three mega-tech names that were actually swooning at this time yesterday. as investors were fretting about long-lasting damage to twitter, google and facebook after their ceos faced quite a seething and often irate senate commerce committee, wednesday's losses with facebook and google really hammering the nasdaq, slipping 5.5% while twitter dropped 5.3%, are not suffering a repeat at all. take a look at all three stocks and how they are trading right this second. they are all blanking out yesterday's losses, particularly twitter, which is now up 8.4%. the entire sector is getting a lift, though, in part from virtual bulletin board site pinterest. look at this gain. okay, how about 27% jump in the social media darling which predicts a 60% sales jump for the current quarter. should the credit for the bump in the nasdaq stocks go to pinterest as the rising tide appears to be lifting all bo

liz: yeah. definitely the numbers have absolutely come down from those ridiculous highs, but you know, we want to stick to the people who are struggling the most right now. the currently unemployed. that's under your purview. airlines say they will be forced to cut jobs without more stimulus. the hotel industry. we had the ceo of best western tell us yesterday right here that nearly 50% of hotels in the u.s. will default on their loans which of course could trigger more layoffs. which sectors do you see needing it the most, the stimulus, right now? >> well, airlines, we know are a sector that have been particularly affected, as has hotel and lodging. these are industries that i have spoken to the president about. i know he has concern there, too. that's part of the reason it's been important for him to get relief, and in order to continue unemployment benefits. but again, that said, we see much better signs in the economy right now than were being projected back in the really difficult days that

liz: all right.emen, and again, scott, when you're looking at some of the nasdaq losers, it is broad-based. you have ulta beauty, a makeup chain, you've got hasbro, workday, then of course, the airlines. so i mean, to me, it almost seems like people are backing away or just holding tight. what is the best rate of play that you recommend with 16 minutes left to trade here, and the dow down 728? >> if you felt comfortable about your holdings this past friday, you should have the same comfort level right now. you should have the same feeling right now. just because the market is down 2% today, whether it is because of election uncertainty, the news out of s.a.p., whatever it is, that really shouldn't change your mindset. you could always be mindful, you can always be protective, but the landscape has not changed. if we go through our big earnings season, especially later this week, with all the big guys reporting, and if those start to show weakness, that would be a different, you know, a different outl

liz: wow. can you give me that number again on how many face default or are very close to it, and then tell me what you're experiencing at best western. >> half the hotels have indicated in american hotel lodging association survey that they likely will default on their loan. based on our own survey within best western, a very significant number, it's not quite that high, but very significant number of hotels are afraid that they will be defaulting on their loan. liz: what are you experiencing at best western? what are you seeing as far as travelers are concerned and you know, whatever you are facing financially. >> the company's doing well. we entered this year with the strongest balance sheet in the company's history so the corporate corporation is fine but i'm very worried about all the hotel licensees. these are small businesses, in many ways the heart and soul of many communities, and they are already pouring their life savings into this business to try to salvage it. they and their famili

liz: yeah, okay.xactly. >> what's going to happen is potential real estate taxes will have to go up because states and municipalities depend on real estate taxes, residential real estate taxes, to pay for the education system. so how will biden fix that? >> look, i'm not studying real estate in books. i'm studying it every day as a real estate investor and developer. i can tell you i feel so badly for my tenants who can't pay their rent. we have tenants that haven't been able to pay rent in los angeles since march or april, because they have been unemployed because of the way this pandemic has been handled. so this is a product of main street. what will president biden do? i can tell you, he will help to rebuild the middle class in this country. in this country, look, anyone who wakes up, i always believed, i started with absolutely nothing, i was a busboy and waiter in palm beach before i moved here under very different circumstances, and i can tell you that i don't care if somebody wakes up and goes

it's good to be with you tonight, liz.y one, it appears that thewh democrats caucused and talked to their e benefactors and, you know, they clearly got the message they were being too nice to judge barrett and tried to come back today and score some toughness points. and, you know, it's amazing not only how well qualified judge amy coney barrett is, but also just how unflappable she is. she knows statutes and laws and reasoning of her own opinions off the top of her head, but she is also just so impressive of in how she has balanced, you know, her life. and you see that by evidence into how well behaved her children are sitting behind her. you can just tell when somebody hastt everything together, and e clearly is not only so well qualified to be on the supreme court, but she is just a all-around great person, and the democrats just can't stand that. elizabeth: yeah. and she didn't have notes. senator kamala harris and the democrats trying to delegitimize judge barrett for not talking about her personal views. she's saying
