and spite that they moved on and partners throughout the neighborhood whether it was the sf loma la to create this neighborhood we're in. that happens through a lot of hard work. there are a lot of originated associations that make this neighborhood and i'll recognize them later but i'll hear to celebrate the mexican mumdz new home. they'll be joining our partners the contemporary jewish museum and accident bonding in a museum for the art and the san francisco filipino cultural center. it's xhooift quo see how this neighborhood has formed and this is the jewel of the district that serves our residents and our visitors alike. yesterday was a wonderful way to celebrate the family's and we have a had a block party yesterday and it was free. but we talked about how the residents there are resident that live here in the neighborhood families and a lot of seniors a lot of folks that came into the project to explore this opportunity what can we do and what can we do to improve the neighborhood. we heard it has to be a safer place to walk and we heard from you folks who what can we do to impro

requirements entail, it's looking at the building stocks that we saw significant damage in after the loma earth quake. we've noticed an issue for years and have been trying to deal with this in a comprehensive way that the conducive to the property owners and small businesses that are in them. we think this affects roughly 6,000 businesses that have been -- 6,000 buildings that have been noticed and about half would be required to retro fit. about 7,000 local employees. we've seen from other devastating earthquakes around the world that these small businesses are is most venerable businesses and if they're damaged by earthquakes they'd likely go out of business and not return. that would change the character of san francisco so we want to help that but supporting these buildings. the ordinances before you is talking about special financing option so one of the things mayor lee deserves cred sit for is that he wasn't comfortable putting forward these ordinances unless we had financing options available for these owners. we had a voter approved general obligation bond for 350 million dollar
