lonnie rivera is joining us live in san jose. >> reporter: yes. good morning, jesse -- reggie. this ramp just opened a short time ago and it was closed as investigators gather details in this police-involved shooting. here is a look at the scene from a short time ago. police cars were on scene gathering evidence and here is what police tell us. so at 11:30 last night chp responded to a vehicle collision on the connector from northbound 101 to northbound 880. something happened while those officers were handling that traffic stop. and shots were fired. police say no officer was injured by a suspect was injured and taken to the hospital. nonlife-threatening injuries. now investigators immediately closed the nearby ramp and that is where they were most of the morning. we know this black jetta parked here on the ramp, and this time we don't know what role it is playing in the investigation but it was here all morning and overnight. it could be possible evidence. the rear window of that jetta has several holes that look like bullet holes. so just a little while ago, that car was tow

lonnie rivera has a look at how families are dealing with the cleanup. lonnie? >> reporter: yes, larry and ama. this is what people are dealing with today. huge puddles like this. actually, two homes along this street have been red-tagged because they are not safe because of the damage from yesterday's rain and because of no power. but meantime, people are coming together in this close-knit community helping each other recover. hollister residents carefully traveled through the puddles. there was flood damage after the pacheco creek rose 20 feet flooding farmland and backyards. >> the floors are pretty well saturated with dirty water. the unfortunate thing is, we were remodeling so we had a bunch of stuff on the ground. >> reporter: this is one of the rescuers who willingly took in 18 cows and four horses. >> you couldn't tell how deep it was and rivers were going. we're running around trying to get the cattle and i went in probably hip-deep. >> reporter: she was happy to help out a few neighbors needing a safe place for their cattle. >> there was nothing keepin
