if you look over, if you look over on the right, the sugary sweetened beverages, we know the evidence is strong. sugary sweetened beverages causes cardiovascular disease. there's no doubt. we know it cause he unhealthy weight gain. we know it cause he metabolic dysfunction and we know it causes type 2 diabetes. the signs around this is science that's been growing immensely over the past 5 to 10 years. so, now we actually know a tremendous amount. the most important thing you realize is all of these things are interconnected. on the right-hand side -- sorry, the left-hand side, i'm going to summarize a few key issues. the first thing is when you drink liquid calories, your body does not know you received those liquid calories. you are not full. which means that you will not eat less in the subsequent meals. the second thing is that when you drink sugary drinks, you have spikes in glucose and insulin which result in fat storage and increased hunger, and over time leads to insulin resistance. and the last point i want to make here is that the fructose part of sugar actually causes proble

the market looks complacent, and i also think you need to look at valuations. when you see non-dividend -- paying stocks are trading for 37.5 times, the last time we saw a pe this high for non-dividend paying stocks was the third quarter of '07 so when you see the last two years, 2012, 2013, you saw high pe trade, a low quality trade and a non-dividend paying trade, that's reverse this year when you're seeing dividends outperform and quality outperform, and when you see more volatility, people will go to apple and go to j&j and merck, names that are driving the s&p, won't go to amazon which is getting hurt year to date. it's a way to play a more volatile summer. >> i wonder, do you think quality and dividends can do well even if we don't have a volatile summer because, again, a lot of this sounds like it could depend on whether we see more movement in stocks. let's take a look at -- if you take a look at mcdonald's, general mills, and there's 50% of their earnings, and if interest rates smart to meld up, even up half a poirngt the cost of capital gets more expe

you're telling people look at it. look at your portfolio, analyze it, rebalance it, and you might want to sell some of the things that are winning and these are areas that you might want to look at as having some potential growth? >> absolutely. we have four rs here. review, reallocate, rebalance, and repeat. those are the four rs for success. timing the market, selling in may and going away does not work continuously. but what does work is looking at it. look at the 40 years in the market the best performing mix of assets would have been 80% stocks and 20% bond. the reason is having a little bit of fixed income, even if you're very aggressive where you think you want to be 100% stocks. having a little bit of bonds allows you to balance out of the market. if you have 100% stocks, what are you going to rebalance out of. so in a year like 2007 and 2008 where you have those huge swings that's where the value comes in. so that 80-20 mix over the last 40 years outperforms 100% stocks with a little bit less. >> is there any
