let's take a look at a chart. inflation, growth, that is what the bank of japan is trying to foster with stimulative policy and the policy of keeping the 10-year yield at zero. you can see the blue line, japan's main inflation measure, cpi, fresh food has recently rarely gotten into positive territory. most of 2015rom and hardly 2016, the fact it was negative, this is a big accomplishment. that is why governor kuroda is upbeat about that. the question is this. the fed is hiking its key rate three times this year, made it clear today, made a rate hike today, but this puts pressure on the bank of japan, because if the rate hike passes, not only what is promised and expected, forces the long end of the treasury curve. on semesters say, they are raising rates, i don't want to hold on. notbond king said he has liked bonds recently. this will put pressure on the bank of japan, because if yields go up around the world potentially, that is something that may force them to abandon that 0%, the zero level 10 year note yield
