"i'm sorry for the murders. my intention is not to cause all this pain to think about the stuff that i did. i try and not to have nightmares." now, he also talked about a book that he wants to write. and he plans to write this book in the next few years about these murders, and this is what we're looking at right now. this is the site where investigators looked for thousands of bone fragments where investigators believe shermantine and his partner loren herzog buried bodies of several people. he was convicted of the murders of four people. that's why he is on death row. but he talked about this book that he wants to write. and he says he'll release more information during that time. but this is the first time that he's saying he's played an active role in the murders. >> and loren herzog committed suicide? >> that's right, he committed suici

we will check the forecast with meteorologist christina loren. the news at 11:00 starts now. >>> good morning, everybody. we're happy you joined us. i'm jon kelley. >> and i'm marla tellez. we begin with a disturbing discovery in a quiet east bay neighborhood. alameda county investigators say they wept to a castro valley home on omega avenue for a probation check, and ended up finding a body and a blood soaked room. christie smith is live with the latest on the investigation. christie, pretty shocking out there. >> reporter: it is very surprising, really odd circumstances out here this morning. investigators say they're still trying to figure out who this man is and exactly how he died. they came to this home and say there was a significant amount of blood inside, and clearly some kind of bad trauma happened here, but exactly what is unclear. we have seen them taking out several bags of evidence all morning. they tell us as you said, this started with a routine probation check on someone that lived in the home on omega avenue and a number of othe

christina loren here to tell us about friday and the weekend. i like saying the weekend. >> and i like saying good weather in the silicon valley. we've got a good-looking day shaping up. wherever you're headed, you have a good-looking forecast for this morning. it actually feels kind of crisp out there. it's the coolest start we've had all week. and when you walk out your front door, you will be greeted by really comfortable conditions. but now, i will say it's going to be a little bit cold. if you're spending any more than an hour outside this morning, you will need that jacket. as we head throughout the day, though, by noon, temperatures climbing into the 60s and 70s and then we're going to round out the day with a couple of 80s on the temperature map. one thing that has improved overnight, much calmer winds to contend with this morning. we had really gusty conditions overnight. high pressure building in and moving in quickly. this will bring the temperatures up by about 5 to 8 degrees today and even warmer conditions on the way as we head thr

meteorologist christina loren, what's going on? >> yeah, we've got a great-looking day if you have to head to work, we are in that boat with you. but take a look at the good news. here's the good news, nobody else on that roadway with you this morning. you'll have a nice smooth drive. and we actually have a beautiful sunrise over the beautiful bay area. now, what you'll notice here, these clouds are already starting to clear. this is san jose. you can see we start out with a full deck of clouds. the clouds are going to clear earlier than yesterday. as a result, we will be warmer, it's still cool to start. in places like santa rosa, mild here in san jose at 55 degrees, 48 degrees in gilroy. headed toward a really nice day. as you can see here, the clouds will clear by about noon. we stop the clock on the future cast. starting to see the clouds push out to sea. that sun will come out in full force. if you want to hit the beach, you can do so without having to hide under the low clouds. temperatures are going to be comfortable. betwee

christina loren says more sun's coming. >> more sun is coming. and you know what? those microclimates are really starting to distinguish themselves. it was just beautiful yesterday, spectacular in the city. oakland, great conditions, but downright hot inland. and today, more of the same. the only difference is we're going to see a little bit more coastal cooling with a little bit stronger onshore flow this morning. however, gusty offshore winds coming through the east bay hills this morning. keep that in mind. temperatures are mild to start. we're starting out so mild the temperatures will easily touch on the low 90s just like they did yesterday. gilroy, you hit 93 degrees yesterday. it's hard to believe we're seeing temperatures as warm, but just about as warm today. today, up to 86 degrees by 4:00 p.m. cooler at the coast today, cloud cover to start, but overall, looking like a very similar day to what we saw yesterday, basically a repeat performance. we do have changes on the way. i'll take you through your seven thf day forecast. mother's day right around the c
